The early games are just hours away and it’s time to get your Pigskin Pick’em locked in for the week. Here, I’ll be looking at the late kickoffs, the Sunday Night Football game, and the Monday Night Football game. Click here for the post with my early games and matchups analysis, and make sure to come back just before kickoff for any late-breaking injury news.
Washington Redskins at St. Louis Rams (+3.5)
Matchup to exploit: All Redskins are great plays against a Rams D that didn’t give up many points but surrendered 495 yards to the Lions last week.
Matchup to avoid: Look elsewhere than Steven Jackson and Sam Bradford if you can this week. The ‘Skins D shut down the Saints last week for much of the game.
Dallas Cowboys at Seattle Seahawks (+3.5)
Matchup to exploit: These are both tough defenses, but I think Romo and Dez Bryant will connect on a TD or two.
Matchup to avoid: Demarco Murray-The Seahawks gave up just 43 yards rushing last week. Murray should do better than that but don’t expect a monster game like he had against NY.
New York Jets at Pittsburgh Steelers (-6.5)
Matchup to exploit: Jonathan Dwyer-Dwyer supposedly will get a bigger role and the Jets allowed 195 rushing yards last week. Click here for Antonio Brown’s highlight as a must-start as well.
Matchup to avoid: Shonn Greene- The Steelers run defense allowed under 100 yards to the Broncos and they’ll be even tougher at homein the Steel City.
Tennessee Titans at San Diego Chargers (-6.5)
Pick: San Diego
Matchup to exploit: Ryan Mathews-If Mathews plays look for a huge game against the Titans who got gashed by Stevan Ridley last week. If he doesn’t, Ronnie Brown is a solid start.
Matchup to avoid: Chris Johnson- The Chargers only gave up 45 yards to Darren McFadden and looked solid against the run week one.
Detroit Lions at San Francisco 49ers (-6.5)
Pick: San Francisco
Matchup to exploit: Frank Gore- Gore 16 carries and still managed to run for 112 yards and a touchdown week one in Green Bay. He’s still a top ten RB despite many who foresaw his demise.
Matchup to avoid: Matthew Stafford-The Niners D shut down Aaron Rodgers last week and Stafford could struggle. Also avoid Kevin Smith-Click here for why.
Denver Broncos at Atlanta Falcons (-3.5)
Matchup to exploit: Peyton Manning, Demaryius Thomas-Both Manning and Thomas looked good against Pittsburgh while the Falcons gave up 258 yards and a TD to Matt Cassel last week. I think the Broncos roll in this one and the Falcons aren’t as good as they looked last week.
Matchup to avoid: Michael Turner- The Broncos gave up 75 yards rushing to the Steelers last week and Turner only put up 32 despite Atlanta’s big win.
