Streak for the Cash Picks, September 16

Mitch Stringer-US PRESSWIRE

If you enjoyed Saturday’s jam-packed schedule of morning-til-night picks in Streak for the Cash, get ready for another full day of picking goodness as the schedule’s stocked with 25 picks for this Sunday. Every NFL game is represented by a pick or a prop, along with action from the EPL and MLB to fill in the blanks. Here’s the picks I like the most headed into today:

Picks for 9/16

11:00- Tottenham Hotspur: The Spurs have more talent and are desperate for a win as they head into their fourth game of the season. The Spurs made some some big moves on deadline day and may have Clint Dempsey ready for action. They’ll stick with Brad Friedel in goal for this one, which is a good move I think that will help them get the much-needed three points on the road at Madejski Stadium. Confidence Meter: (out of 10)

1:00- Andy Dalton: Dalton threw for 221 yards against the Ravens on Monday Night. Barring injury, I’m not sure how he would throw for less than Browns starter Brandon Wheeden who completed just 12 of 35 passes for 118 yards in week one against the Eagles. Anything is possible in props like this, but Dalton is by far the better choice. Confidence Meter: 8

1:00- Oakland Raiders: The Raiders make the west-to-east coast trip after a tough Monday Night opener to face the Dolphins who lost last week in Houston. Ryan Tannehill didn’t look ready for NFL defenses and only Reggie Bush had a good week numbers-wise. Oakland’s comeback fell a bit short, but they should be able to take this matchup if they can limit their penalties and stay out of their own way. Confidence Meter: 6

4:05- Dallas Cowboys: The Cowboys impressed everyone with their opening night win in New York and now they travel to one of the most hostile environments in the NFL as they head to Qwest Field to take on Seattle. The Seahawks lost in Arizona week one, and the Cowboys should be able to drop Pete Carroll’s team to 0-2 if they play like they did against the Giants. Confidence Meter: 6

4:10- St. Louis Cardinals: The Cardinals will give the ball to their struggling ace Adam Wainwright as he takes on Stephen Fife. Originally the Dodgers were scheduled to start Clayton Kershaw but he’s been sidelined “indefinitely.” The Cards will be going for a split of this four-game set, and I think Wainwright will help them get it. Confidence Meter: 4

6:30- Any Other TD: The Jets and Steelers passing game will be more effective than any rusher. This is a prop pick so can go either way, but smart money is on Any other. Confidence Meter: 2

8:05- Washington Nationals: Sunday Night Baseball features an NL East showdown that would get the Braves back into the race closing the gap to five games. The Braves have won the first two games bu one run, but will be facing NL wins leader Gio Gonzalez in tonight’s game. Atlanta has been on a roll, but I think Washington will get the win behind the better starting pitcher, Gonzalez who has a 0.41 ERA in winning his last three starts. Confidence Meter: 5

8:31- 149 yards or fewer:  Stafford threw for 355 yards in the first game of the year against the Rams while the 49ers held Aaron Rodgers to 303 yards. This will be close, but I think the Niners defense will shut down Stafford for the first half and hold him under just barely. Confidence Meter: 3

10:50- No Interception in the 3rd quarter: This could go either way but I think this will be a low-scoring ball-control focused game and that there will be no interception in the third quarter. Confidence Meter: 4
