Streak for the Cash Picks and Advice September 19

Can the Braves pick up their 21st victory in a row that Kris Medlen (54) starts? Daniel Shirey-US PRESSWIRE

There’s a lucky 13 picks on the Streak for the Cash schedule today with more Champions League action from Groups E and H getting thigs underway at 2:45 then plenty of Major League Baseball throughout the rest of the afternoon, evening, and even late into the night (just ask anyone who stayed up to watch the end of that O’s-M’s game last night). Here’s the picks I like the most heading into this Wednesday’s sports action:

Best Picks for Wednesday, 9/19

2:45- Manchester United wins by 2 goals: Man U at home in the Champions League Group Stage is always a good pick. I hate giving a goal in any prop, but Galatasaray from  the Turkish Super Lig will be making its Champions League debut although they did fare well winning the UEFA Cup and UEFA Super Cup back in 2000. There’s history to this matchup which you can read about here in a nice recap from The Guardian’s blog. I think Man U lays a beatdown here and wins easily. Confidence Meter: 5

4:05- Washington Nationals: The Nats send one of their best pitchers to the hill in Jordan Zimmermann against the Dodgers in game one of the double-header today. Zimmermann has struggled lately as have the Nats but they still have the best record in baseball at home against the Dodgers who have lost eight of their last 11 games and will counter with Aaron Harang who is 0-2 with a 4.71 ERA in his last four starts. Confidence Meter: 6

7:10- Atlanta Braves: Kris Medlen has been awesome since moving to the rotation. He’s 7-0 with a 0.86 ERA in nine starts. The Braves have won the last 20 games when Medlen starts. John Johnson is a formidable foe to be sure, but the Marlins offense hasn’t been backing him at all lately leading to him going just 1-5 in his last seven starts even though he hasn’t pitched poorly. Look for Medlen to once against dominate and the Braves to win a close, low-scoring pitchers duel. Confidence Meter: 7

10:10- Seattle Mariners: The Orioles better not let their bats sleep in after winning in 18 innings last night/this morning. They’ll face Felix Hernandez who has struggled his last two starts, but has a 2.48 home ERA. I think the King bounces back at home against the sleepy O’s and Joe Saunders who lost to the A’s his last time out dropping him to 2-2 in four starts with Baltimore. Go with Seattle and their ace at home in this matchup. Confidence Meter: 4
