After watching Aldon Smieth (99) and the 49ers defense crush and contain Matthew Stafford (9) and the Lions, San Francisco is our number one ranked defense this week even on the road. Kyle Terada-US PRESSWIRE
Team defenses are as much about the matchup as the defense you own. For example, the Saints actually make a decent play this week despite two horrible weeks so far simply because the Chiefs will give them plenty of point-scoring opportunities. Make sure you understand your league’s method of scoring team defense and adjust our top 10 accordingly.
As usual, our weekly rankings are a collaborative effort. My selections are in the ZT column and Steve Copps (SC) and Jeffrey Littrell (JL) joined me for this week’s rankings. Our three rankings are averaged into the composite score which is used for the ranking. The higher the rank the better the start.
