Streak for the Cash Daily Picks and Analysis, September 20

Ross Detwiler (48) has pitched well at Nationals Park all season and he and the Nats are a good streak pick for today. Brad Mills-US PRESSWIRE

Streak for the Cash players and sports fans welcome back the PGA Tour after a one-week hiatus today as the Tour Championship and FedEx Cup finale gets underway in Atlanta. Some golf props and UEFA Europa league action get the day started before tonight’s full slate of Major League Baseball action with some NFL, MLS, College Football, and WNBA mixed in to spice things up.

Here’s the picks I like the most today:

Picks for 9/20

Sep 9, 2012; Carmel, IN, USA; Adam Scott chips out of the rough on the third hole during the BMW Championship at Crooked Stick Golf Club. Mandatory Credit: Brian Spurlock-US PRESSWIRE

12:15- 8 Strokes: It’s par for a reason. That’s what most people get and I think both Els and Scott hit pars to open their weekend. It’s a prop, so it easily can go either way. Confidence Meter: 3

1:00- Maritimo win: I had Newcastle here until I saw how many of their normal starters will miss the game. Maritimo catches a break and gets a home win in Portugal in this one. Confidence Meter: 3

4:05- Milwaukee Brewers: The Brewers have 10 of their 14 games with their division rivals from Pittsburgh. If they want to make it 11 of 15, they’ll have to beat the Bucs best pitcher lately Wandy Rodriguez. Wandy struggled after being acquired at the trade deadline, but has stepped it up lately with five quality starts in a row. The Brewers counter with Michael Fiers who has been inconsistent lately but beat the Pirates earlier this season. The two teams are trending in opposite directions with the Brewers surging winning four in a row, seven of eight, and 22 of their last 28. The Pirates on the other hand have only won five times in their last 19 games and have again suffered a late-season fade from the race. I’ll take the team with the momentum going for the sweep in Pittsburgh. Confidence Meter: 4

7:05- Washington Nationals: The Nats are playing like the best team in baseball. They’re dominant especially at home where tonight’s starter Ross Detwiler has a 2.67 ERA. He’ll be opposed tonight by Chris Capuano who has struggled all year away from Dodger Stadium. Confidence Meter: 7

8:30- Carolina Panthers: The Giants offense will be hurting without Ahmad Bradshaw, Hakeem Nicks, and Domenic Hixon. Carolina at home is actually the underdog still, but I’ll take Cam Newton and the Panthers to get the win against the visiting G-men. The Panthers are coming off a nice home victory over the Saints, and I think they’ll keep the momentum rolling on Thursday Night Football.  Confidence Meter: 6

9:05- BYU single digit loss or win: The Cougars cost me points in College Pick’Em last week losing to Utah and now head to Boise State to face a tough Broncos team on the iconic blue turf. The spread is just 6.5 and I think BYU’s tough defense and veteran offense will keep this one close.

11:00- 34 yards of fewer or no TD: Under is usually the way to go here since you shouldn’t count on fluky big-yardage plays. However, you never know when one may happen, so don’t put a big streak on it. Confidence Meter: 3
