The C.J. Spiller story took an ugly turn on a play that ultimately was called back on a holding penalty. Spiller was tackled by Cleveland free safety Usama Young and landed hard on his left shoulder. After remaining on the ground, Spiller was helped to the sidelines and later taken to the locker room for further testing. The Bills have officially ruled him out for the rest of this week’s game. Come back to FantasyCPR.com throughout the week and we’ll keep you up to date.
The only good news for Spiller owners is that he did put up some points before departing. Spiller had already taken four carries for 16 yards and caught a pass for 32 yards and a touchdown. While he won’t have a huge matchup-winning week, he didn’t put up a goose egg either.
There were already rumblings that Fred Jackson could return next week which would be great timing for the Bills. Both running backs have shown the ability to make plays so monitor the situation because if either Spiller or Jackson gets all the carries they immediately become a top ten running back option. If they share carries, depending on the time share both could still have significant value in that situation. However, until we know more about Spiller’s injury there’s no clear fantasy option in the Bills backfield.
