Fantasy Football Injury Updates-Monday Morning Injury Ward-10/1

by NFL

Did the Madden curse strike Calvin Johnson (81) on Sunday? He missed a few plays yesterday due to a blow to the head, but should be ok. Tim Fuller-US PRESSWIRE

NFL Week 4 didn’t have any stars go down injured but there were several fantasy-relevant players who were forced to leave the game early. While there’s nothing we can do for your team this week, here’s the outlook on the injuries as you start to plan ahead for week 5.

Calvin Johnson-Detroit Lions-WR: Megatron got lit up and missed a few plays  and finished with a disappointing five-catch, 54-yard performance. He should be good to go moving forward but keep an eye on his practice participation this week.

Greg Jennings-Green Bay Packers-WR: Jennings was severely limited due to a groin injury against the Saints and is a risky play until he shows he’s all the way back from this nagging injury.

C.J. Spiller-Buffalo Bills-RB: Spiller played just a week after what appeared to be a brutal injury and avoided aggravating the injury. He’ll share carries with Fred Jackson going forward but should be a solid fantasy option for the rest of the season.

Jeremy Maclin-Philadelphia Eagles-WR: Maclin was active last night but was barely targeted and had just one catch for seven yards  against the Giants. Hopefully, he can practice this week so he can be more involved next week.

Pierre Garcon-Washington Redskins-WR: Garcon returned and played quite a bit but was only targeted on one pass which he caught for 20 yards. Owners would have been even more upset if it wasn’t for a fumble recovery that gave him a TD. There were no signs of a setback so Garcon should ready to go next week as a WR3.

Jake Locker-Tennessee Titans-QB: Locker landed on his non-throwing shoulder after being drilled by a pair of Texans. He’s scheduled for an MRI today, but don’t expect him under center anytime soon. Word out of Tennessee is that they “fear the worst.”

Santonio Holmes-New York Jets-WR: Holmes sustained a non-contact injury before throwing the ball up in the air for the 49ers to return for a touchdown. The good news is the injury is not to his knee. The bad news is that early reports are ligament damage. An MRI today will determine how long he’s out, but plan a different direction for the next few weeks.

Laurent Robinson-Jacksonville Jaguars-WR: Robinson played after sustaining a concussion last week but took another shot to the head. If it is another concussion he may miss an extended period of time. Check other receiver options on the waiver wire moving forward.
