Streak for the Cash Picks, October 2

The Rangers send Matt Harrison (54) to the mound as they look to clinch the AL West. Matthew Emmons-US PRESSWIRE

Thankfully there’s still plenty of October left after a rough first day of October for my Streak for the Cash picks. Tuesday isn’t packed with picks, but there’s still some opportunity for some green with 12 picks on the board. This afternoon things start in the UEFA Champions League and tonight there’s the WNBA playoffs and more Major League Baseball action. Here’s my favorite picks heading into the day:

Picks and analysis for 10/2

12:00- Spartak Moscow win: Spartak is the heavy favorite as they host Celtic. I’m a bit surprised that we don’t have to give a goal here with the odds as high as they are. Spartak has opened play in the Russian Premier League with a 6-1-3 record and is 3-0-0 at home. Confidence Meter:(out of 10)

2:45- Barcelona win: Barcelona has been on fire in their early Primera action sporting a 6-0-0 record as they head to Estadio da Luz in Lisbon, Portugal for their Group G matchup with Benfica. The only way Barca doesn’t win this is if they get caught looking ahead to a big match with Real Madrid this weekend, but that hasn’t hampered them in the past. I think Barcelona takes care of business in a big way over Benfica and am surprised that this is a straight up pick. Confidence Meter: 7

7:06- No Run Scored: The Yankees and Red Sox get this prop, and no run should be a good pick with Lester on the mound for the Red Sox and Bobby V sending out a seriously depleted lineup against David Phelps. I’d stay away from the straight-up pick, but the no run prop is a solid pick. Confidence Meter: 3

9:06- Maya Moore and Seimone Augustus: Moore and Augustus are matched up in this prop with Sue Bird and Lauren Jackson of the Seattle Storm. Minnesota is at home and I think they’ll open up a healthy lead by half-time behind a solid half from Moore and Augustus. During the season, Bird and Jackson averaged a combined 22.4 points per game, while the Lynx’ Augustus and Moore average 33.0. In game 2 of this series, Bird/Jackson would have won, so it’s no sure thing. However, Moore/Augustus is the more likely duo to score more in the first half. Confidence Meter: 5

10:05- Texas Rangers: Both teams are assured of the postseason after the A’s clinched last night. The Rangers could lock up the division crown with a win and they’ll look to 18-game winner Matt Harrison to get the job done. He beat the A’s his last start despite giving up four runs in six innings. He’s 6-1 in his career against the Athletics who will counter with Travis Blackley. Blackley had been pitching out of the bullpen  and has given up eight runs in his last two starts since returning to the rotation lasting a total of three innings. Confidence Meter: 5
