Streak for the Cash Picks, Props, and Analysis-October 3

Picking against these guys can be hazardous to your Streak. Consider yourself warned. picture by:Kyle Terada-US PRESSWIRE

Today’s 11 Streak for the Cash picks focus on UEFA Champions League again this afternoon and plenty of Major League Baseball tonight with an early Kontinental Hockey League game and a late Major League Soccer to add some variety. It’s been a tough start to the month for my picks but hopefully today I can get things headed the right direction.

Picks and Analysis, 10/3

12:00- Zenit St. Petersburg win: Don’t go on name recognition here, since AC Milan isn’t the better team. They’re in the midst of a big transition while St. Pete is really good at home. They haven’t lost a match in European competition in their last 16 home games. AC Milan is more famous, but Zenit St. Petersburg is the team playing better right now. Confidence Meter:(out of 10)

2:45-Manchester City win: Don’t sleep on the reigning Bundesliga champs. They sometimes do struggle on the road, and going to Manchester City is not easy. However, City’s recent run of success hasn’t really translated to European competition yet and they lost their opener in heartbreaking fashion at Real Madrid. Last year they exited in the First Phase but did beat eventual champs Bayern Munich at home also from the Bundesliga. This isn’t as sure a bet as everyone seems to think (96.4% as of when this was written), but I’ll take City in a high scoring home game to get an important Champions League win. Confidence Meter: 3

3:35- Oakland Athletics: As Robert Guijarro reminded us on twitter [blackbirdpie url="http://twitter.com/robg0927/status/253364288599752705"]

The A’s have taken the first two games in the series and A.J. Griffin has been good lately. Pick against Oakland and Baltimore at your own risk at this point. Confidence Meter: 5

7:08- Baltimore Orioles: The O’s need a win to have a chance at the division title. The Rays are eliminated from the postseason picture. Chris Tillman who is scheduled to start for Baltimore has allowed one or zero runs in four os his last five starts with a 4-0 record over that span. Confidence Meter: 8

Vancouver Whitecaps midfielder Barry Robson (14) reacts after scoring against the Galaxy earlier this month. Anne-Marie Sorvin-US PRESSWIRE

10:10- Vancouver Whitecaps win: Vancouver is mid-table in the MLS Western Conference but has a solid 7-6-2 record at home. In this match the’ll host cellar-dwelling Chivas who is 7-7-16 on the year and 4-5-6 on the road after losing their last four road contests outright. The teams played to a 0-0 draw their last meeting at Chivas studium in LA. Vancouver actually beat them in an early season game 1-0 also on Chivas home-field. This will be the first time the Whitecaps have hosted, and while a draw is definitely a possibility, I think at home the Whitecaps will get a W. Confidence Meter: 6
