Saturdays are great days fror sports fans and Streak for the Cash players with picks starting at 7:45 this morning and going all the way through the 10:35 late starts in College Football. College Football isn’t the only thing on the schedule, though, as the Division Series get under way in the American in National Leagues too. There’s props and picks all day from NCAA football with a PGA Golf prop and the English Premier League kickoff this morning.
Yesterday was a rough day for streakers overall as the lower percentage of picks won in eight of the 11 picks. The road teams won both MLB playoff games, and Syracuse won the game while Ryan Nassib won the prop. My entry actually did ok as I personally went 3-1 and got up to a winning streak of 5 before losing it with the Braves pick. I bounced back with a pair of wins though to finish on a W2. Here’s how I’m hoping to build on it today.
Picks for 10/6
7:45-Sunderland loses by one, draws, or wins: Sunderland goes to Manchester City in the earliest pick of the day. Manchester is good at home, but has only won one of their last four matches by more than a goal. Sunderland isn’t flashy but has only lost three of their last 25 Premier League matches by more than one goal. They enter this game undefeted with a win and four draws to open the season. I don’t think Sunderland will pull off the upset, but they should be able to stay within a goal of City and maybe even earn the draw. Confidence Meter: 4
11:35-Air Force wins by double-digits: Air Force is the 8-point favorite at home as they host Navy. Navy has struggled to score averaging just 14.5 points over their first four games. They’ve been beaten by double-digis in all three of their losses to Notre Dame, Penn State, and last week to San Jose State. Air Force has had struggles of their own but with the top-ranked rushing attack in the country they should win by double-digits in this one. Confidence Meter: 5
12:03- Arkansas single-digit loss or win: Auburn is 7.5 point favorites at home, and I think they’ll win although asking them to win by ten is too much in my opinion. Auburn’s only win was by three in overtime, and the only reason I picked them to win was their ability to hang with LSU last week. Two of Arkansas’s four consecutive losses were close, and two were blowouts. They got crushed last week on the road at A&M and they lost big to Alabama but they lost by only nine to Rutgers and three to ULL. Auburn’s offense has struggled averaging only 17.5 points a game and I think that they’ll win but by less than 10 points. Confidence Meter: 3
3:30-Florida: Click here for full analysis of my picks for today. Confidence Meter: 4
3:36- Seth Doege: Doege has already thrown for 1189 yards in four games, while Landry Jones has thrown for 773 in three games. The reason I’ll go with Doege is that Texas Tech’s defense ranks #1 in yards allowed and I think especially in the first half, OU will have some trouble moving the ball. Confidence Meter: 3
6:20- Detroit Tigers: Picking against Oakland right now is tough, but Verlander on the hill for Detroit makes me think they’ll get game one at home. Jarrod Parker is coming off a huge rookie campaign but Verlander is a proven big game pitcher (with the exception of this year’s All-Star game.) In two starts against the Athletics this year, Verlander allowed one run on seven hits in 13 innings and went 2-0. Parker only started once against Detroit taking the loss after allowing two runs in 5.2 innings all the way back on May 13. Everything points to Detroit, but it’s hard to pick against all that momentum the A’s have right now. Confidence Meter: 6
7:00- Georgia: Full analysis here. Confidence Meter: 3
10:35- Oregon wins by 25+: Oregon has been steamrolling everyone out West including crushing then #22 Arizona 49-0 two weeks ago. At home, they pile up points in a hurry and their defense has shown it can play too. Washington is coming off a nice win over Stanford, but that was at home while now they have to go on the road to Autzen Stadium. Earlier this season when Washington went on the road to a top opponent they left LSU after a 41-3 beatdown. Oregon is good enough to cover at home in the late game. Confidence Meter: 5
