Tuesday’s a slow day in the world of sports, but with the MLB Playoffs continuing in Cincinnati and Oakland there’s sure to be some drama. In Streak for the Cash, there’s nine picks on the board and most are simple coin-flip in-game props. Those are great if you need quick green, but hard to analyze and string together. Feel free to jump in on any of those if you find yourself in the red.
I’ve been in the red a lot this month and am still stuck on the wrong side of .500. Here’s how I’m hoping to change that today.
Picks for 10/9
9:00- Yenisey win or Draw: Yenisey and Ufa are side-by-side in the Russian Division 1 table. The have preformed identically over their past five gaes going 1-3-1. Yenisey is the road team but since the two sides seem even, I’ll take the draw. Confidence Meter: 2
1:05- 5 goals or more: Even though the Kontinental Hockey League tends to be low-scoring these teams don’t. Dynamo Moscow have 71 total goals, scored and allowed, in 13 games (5.5 average) and have a higher scoring rate at home. I think this will go over, but if you’ve got a substantial streak stay away. Confidence Meter: 4
5:37- Cincinnati Reds: Homer Bailey has been lights out and that’s not what an underwhelming Giants offense needs as they face an elimination game. The Reds have looked great and Bailey hasn’t given up a run in his last two starts spanning 13 innings both at home where he’ll face the Giants tomorrow. The Reds will also have some serious emotion behind them as Dusty Baker makes his return to the dugout at Great American Ballpark for the first time since his hospitalization and the Reds will be trying to win their first home playoff win in 17 years. Confidence Meter: 7
9:07- Oakland A’s: The Tigers also look to finish off a sweep as they head to Oakland for game 3. I think the A’s will stay alive behind Brett Anderson who went 4-2 after returning from the DL and was especially effective at home where he was 2-0 with a 1.38 ERA. He hasn’t pitched since leaving his last start early which happened to be in Detroit where he allowed three runs in 2.1 innings. Tomorrow, Anderson will face Anibal Sanchez who pitched will in September except for his start in Oakland where the A’s got to him for six runs in 5.2 innings in a 12-4 win September 20. During the regular season, the Tigers were only 26-25 against left-handed starters this season so at home, with the southpaw Anderson on the mound, I think Oakland can avoid elimination. Confidence Meter: 5
