Streak for the Cash Selections and Analysis, October 14

Calvin Johnson faces off with LeSean McCoy in a Streak for the Cash prop. I’m taking Megatron. Photo by Raj Mehta-US PRESSWIRE

The NFL is once again the focus, but not the only options on this Sunday’s Streak for the Cash board. There’s 21 matchups including a Kontinental Hockey League prop featuring Alexander Ovechkin, the second game of the ALCS, the first game of the WNBA finals, the first game of the NLCS (complete with props), and of course a plethora of NFL picks. Check out my favorites below.

Yesterday, my picks ran hot and cold. I started off the day on fire, lost a bunch mid-day and then finished with another nice run. For my entry I was able to go with my more confident picks and run off four wins getting me close to .500 in this upside-down month. Here’s the ones I like the most today:

Picks for 10/13

9:00- Yes Alex Ovechkin scores: In nine games, Ovechkin has four goals. In his last game he didn’t, and has scored every other game this month. The key stat that made me say he does score though is that that Amur has allowed 43 goals in 17 games so far this season. It’s a coin-flip pick, but I’ll go with yes. I would stay away unless you’re in the red though. Confidence Meter: (out of 10)

1:00- Calvin Johnson Receiving Yards: Megatron is stacked up against LeSean McCoy’s rushing yards in this prop. McCoy rushed for 120 yards in his only previous game against Detroit but is coming off just 53 against Pittsburgh last week. The Lions rank 13th in the NFL allowing 102.8 rushing yards per game. I think McCoy ends up with right about 100 yards, but Megatron will bounce back from his concussion, non-concussion controversy with even more than that. He’s coming off a season-low 54 yards before the bye but had 164, 94, and 111 before that. Coming off a bye week, look for Matthew Stafford and the Lions gameplan to get the ball to Johnson early and often against the Eagles secondary that allows 261.5 passing yards per game at home. I think Philadelphia wins the game and that the Lions spend their day throwing to Johnson to try and catch up.   Confidence Meter: 7

2:00- American: If you’re in the vast minority of people who will tune in to the final round of the Frys.com Open, I’d take an American to win. John Mallinger (American) leads by two strokes over Jonas Blixt (Any Other Country). The next two golfers back are tied for third three strokes back-Charles Howell III and Jason Kokrak (both Americans). There’s a sea of internationals from 5-12, but I think winner is one of those four meaning American is the most likely option. Confidence Meter: 6

4:07- Detroit Tigers: The Tigers took game one and will look to put a choke-hold on this series before heading home as they send Anibal Sanchez to the hill. The Tigers showed their resiliency as they bounced back to win last night in extra innings and the Yankees will need to overcome the psychological blow of losing Derek Jeter. The bigger problem for New York though is their bats not showing up. Look for Detroit to win and go up 2-0. Confidence Meter: 3

4:25- Minnesota Vikings: Click here for NFL Picks. Confidence Meter: 5

8:02- Indiana Fever win or lose by single-digits: The Lynx were supposed to be here. The defending WNBA champs host the surprising Indiana Fever in game one of the WNBA finals as they look to be the first repeat champion in a decade. The Lynx were pushed to the brink in the last round by the Seattle Storm but were able to squeak into the Finals. Indiana faced Minnesota twice during the season and although they lost both there were both by less than ten points. Indiana has lost game one in their two playoff series so far but have bounced back to eliminate the Atlanta Dream and the Connecticut Sun. I think they’ll keep this game one within 10. Confidence Meter: 3

8:30- Green Bay Packers:  Click here for NFL Picks. Confidence Meter: 4

8:31- Aaron Rodgers: The Texans are run-first. The Packers leading rusher last week was Rodgers. Anything could happen, to be sure, but Rodgers is the better option here. Confidence Meter: 7
