Streak for the Cash Picks and Analysis-October 24

It’s a Streak for the cash day filled with tennis and soccer as we get ready for the first pitch of the World Series tonight in San Francisco. There’s some pretty solid picks to get things under way today, and here’s how I’m picking pre-Verlander tonight.

Streak Picks for 10/24

Aug 31, 2012; Queens, NY, USA; Li Na (CHN) serves against Laura Robson (GBR) on day five of the 2012 US Open at Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Robson won 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-2. Mandatory Credit: Susan Mullane-USA TODAY Sports

10:05- 7 games or more: Serena has played Li Na 6 times in the past and each time the match would have gone over this number. Their last match was at Wimbledon in 2010, but both are having solid seasons and this should be a good match. I think Williams will advance, but that Na should be able to steal at least 7 of the games. Confidence Meter: 5 (out of 10)

12:00- Zenit St. Petersburg win: St. Petersbug needs to get a win here after dropping their first two group matches. They’ll take on Anderlecht who hasn’t scored yet in their group games. I think they’ll get the three points they need here against an overmatched Anderlecht team. Confidence Meter: 7

2:45- Borussia Dortmund win or draw: Dortmund only has allowed one goal in their first two Champions League games and Real Madrid has little to play for after grabbing control of the group with two wins to open group play. Real Madrid struggles on the road and I think that will continue here. Confidence Meter: 6

8:08- Detroit Tigers- Barry Zito has been good and the Giants have won his last 13 starts, but there’s no way I’m picking against Justin Verlander who has shown himself to be the best big game pitcher there is. The game is in San Francisco and the Giants are hot, so it’s far from a lockdown pick. I think the Tigers take the series in 5 starting with game one behind their ace. Confidence Meter: 6
