Streak for the Cash Picks and Breakdown, October 25

The San Francisco Giants took game 1 of the World Series behind a huge night from third baseman Pablo Sandoval. Can they get game 2? That’s one of the picks on the board in today’s Streak for the Cash Picks. Photo by Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

Thursday’s Streak for the Cash board is filled with nine more matchups starting once again with tennis then shifting to soccer in Europe. Tonight’s picks feature an ACC matchup in college football, Game 2 of the World Series, Thursday Night NFL football, and even some late preseason basketball. Here’s my picks of the day:

Picks for 10/25

10:05- Li Na: Na is 5-1 against Angelique Kerber in their six previous meetings. Kerber went three sets in her match with Victoria Radwanska before losing yesterday while Na also was unable to get the win as she faced off with Serena Williams. Kerber is 0-2 in this round robin format while Na still has a chance to advance if she gets the win here. Confidence Meter: (out of 10)

3:05- Newcastle United: Newcastle has been a bit of a disappointment in the early stages of the EPL but have been faring well in the Europa League having not allowed a goal in their first four games. They are a tough matchup at St. James Park for Club Brugge who will be missing some of its key players due to injury. Confidence Meter: 6

7:35- Any other Result: Clemson can score points in a hurry averaging 40.9 points per game ranking them 15th in scoring offense in the country. The line here is 11.5 as they visit Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons are coming off a nice win at Virginia, and I’m not confident enough in the Tigers defense to give this many points in an in-conference road game. Last year they beat Wake by only three points, and have not won by 15 in either of their road games this year (1-1 overall). I think Clemson wins, but in primetime at home I think that Wake keeps it within this 15 point spread. Confidence Meter: 5

8:08- San Francisco Giants: Did you watch game 1? The Giants are dialed in and hot at the right time. The Tigers may have a chance when they get home but their struggles against left-handed starters will come back to haunt them again as they go down 0-2 to San Francisco tonight. Confidence Meter: 6

8:30- Vikings winning Margin: Minnesota’s defense is solid and at home I expect them to handle the Bucs fairly easily behind big games from Adrian Peterson and Percy Harvin. Tampa is improving, but on a short week off a tough loss I don’t think their defense will be able to do much better than they did against the Saints last week. Minnesota is 4-0 at home with their smallest margin of victory (3) coming in the opening week. The Bucs are 0-2 on the road losing at Dallas and New York earlier this season. Confidence Meter: 7
