Streak for the Cash Picks and Analysis, November 2

Both the Phoenix Suns and the Golden State Warriors make good picks today in Streak for the Cash. Check below for all my favorite picks of the day. Here, Jared Dudley (3) passes against the Golden State Warriors guard Jarrett Jack (2). Photo by Jennifer Stewart-US PRESSWIRE

It’s a good Friday to play Streak for the Cash with 19 matchups on the board after a number of slower Fridays the past few weeks. With the return of the NBA and the Breeders’ Cup today, there’s plenty to choose from. I’ll stay away from the ponies since I’d just be straight up guessing or just reading the odds. Check out the picks I do like below.

I had a nice start to the month yesterday as only Tony Parkers’ last-second shot kept me from being perfect. I ended up 6-1 in yesterday’s picks which is a start I hope to continue today with these options:

Streak Picks for 11/2

9:10- Any Other Result: This is a pick from the quarterfinals of the Paris Masters ATP tennis tournament which pits Tomas Berdych against Gilles Simon. Simon has actually won four out of their six previous meetings and all he needs to do is take one set to get the green here. Berdych is the favorite due to his current form, but he hasn’t dominated to so far in this tournament needing a tie-break against Andreas Seppi in his first match and dropping the first set in the last round 6-1 to Kevin Anderson before coming back to get the win. It would be a tough pick if it was straight up, but I think AOR is a strong play with the prop arranged the way it is. Confidence Meter: (out of 10)

1:30- Silkeborg win or draw: This soccer matchup is between two of the worst teams in the Danish SAS Lig. Silkeborg is just 3-2-9 while Esbjerg is 2-5-7. I think the most likely outcome is a draw, but in their previous two meetings (both this year) Silkeborg has won outright: 3-2 and 4-3. Confidence Meter: 3

7:30- Cleveland Cavaliers: The Cavs looked good on opening night in their victory over Washington. Kyrie Irving is quickly developing into one of the better point guards in the league. The Derrik Rose-less Bulls will struggle to contain the Cavs point guard and I think Cleveland can get off to their first 2-0 start since 2006. Confidence Meter: 3

8:00- Sacramento Kings: The Kings visit  Minnesota who open their season without Ricky Rubio and Kevin Love. The Wolves have added a bunch of new pieces and I think they’ll be improved, but Sacramento has more continuity and looked decent in Chicago in their opening loss to the Bulls. Confidence Meter: 4

9:00- California Golden Bears: Cal has lost two in a row and is just 2-3 at home as they host Washington. The Huskies have pulled off some nice upsets this season but are 0-3 away from Seattle. Washington has gotten thumped away from home by LSU, Oregon, and Arizona. I don’t think Cal has the offensive fire-power to blow them out, but I do think the Golden Bears can pull out the win at home. If the game was at Washington, I’d take the Huskies. Confidence Meter: 3

10:00- Phoenix Suns: Phoenix hosts the Pistons as both teams look for their first win of the season. Phoenix showed some promise with new additions Luis Scola and Michael Beasley and returning point guard Goran Dragic but in the end couldn’t pull out the win against the Warriors. Detroit was in the lead for much of their opener before Rockets James Harden brought his team back to get the win. The Pistons are extremely young (six players with one or zero years experience) and have struggled away from home in past seasons. They’ve also lost four straight in Phoenix and I like the combination of players the Suns have put together. Confidence Meter: 7

10:10- Seattle Sounders Win: Seattle hosts Real Salt Lake in the first half of a home-and-home in the MLS playoffs. Seattle is usually solid at home finishing this year with a 11-2-4 record. However, one of those losses was to RSL and Seattle did not get a win against them this year so I can’t recommend you put anything long on this one. Confidence Meter: 5

10:30- Golden State Warriors: Golden State is always tough at home and played nice defense to get a win in their open in Phoenix despite a rough shooting night from Stephen Curry. Memphis struggled in their opener losing to the Clippers in LA. Because of the homecourt advantage of the O, I’m going with the Warriors. Confidence Meter: 3
