It’s a Streak for the Cash packed Saturday with no less than 27 picks on the board. 27 is also of course the number of correct picks in a row needed to claim the 250K Streak Stash. Today’s picks feature EPL amd MLS soccer, some more Breeers’ Cup action, and a whole lot of college football.
Yesterday, my numbers overall weren’t good, but I was able to win my two most confident picks and get my record for the month of streak to 5-0. Early season basketball is hard to predict, but today’s late-season college football will hopefully go more according to my picks.
Here’s the picks I like the most today.
Picks for 11/2
8:45- Manchester United win: Last season, United crushed Arsenal 8-2 at Old Trafford. It was the start of a dark time at Arsenal which they’re just now recovering from. This season I don’t think they’ll be a rout of those proportions, but ManU is playing extremely well while Arsenal has scuffled a bit. United has won its last three Premier League matches including a big road win at Chelsea. Arsenal lost to Norwich City their last EPL game on the road and have a long way to go before they’re back to ManU’s level on a consistent basis. In the EPL, weird things sometimes happen early in the season in a one-game fluke, but based on talent, form, and recent results I like Manchester United to get the win here. Confidence Meter: 6 (out of 10)
12:00- Texas A&M Aggies: Click here for my picks in the top ten games today including this one. Confidence Meter: 4
12:01- Any Other Result: Click here for my picks in the top ten games today including this one. You’ll see that I picked OU to win, but I don’t think they’ll cover. Iowa State is solid at home and would have covered this like against every team that has come to Ames so far this season including then-#6 Kansas State who beat them by 6 and Texas Tech who beat them by 11. Confidence Meter: 5
12:04- Louisville by 15+: Louisville hosts Temple as they try to stay undefeated. Temple as lost their last two games 47-17 to Pittsurgh and 35-10 to Rutgers. Louiville has played some tough games against Cincinnati, South Florida, Pitt, USM, FIU, and UNC all of which have been decided by 10 or less. I think they’ll get the win easily this time over a Temple team that is struggling in its inaugural Big East season. Confidence Meter: 6
2:02- Any Other Result: Colorado needs to stay within 30 of Stanford in this prop and at home I think the Buffs can cover. The Cardinal have struggled on the road and have only won one road game all year (21-3 at Cal two weeks ago). I do think Stanford wins this easily but they haven’t won by an overwhelming margin like is needed for this prop since they hosted Duke the second game of the season. Confidence Meter: 4
3:02- West Virginia winning Margin: After an open week following back-to-back losses look for Geno Smith to come out firing against a vulnerable TCU defense. This will be a blowout as WVU reminds everyone of their offensive abilities. Confidence Meter: 5
3:30- Michigan State: Click here for my picks in the top ten games today including this one. Confidence Meter: 3
3:32- Penn State Winning Margin: Click here for my picks in the top ten games today including this one. Purdue lost by 24 to Wisonsin and 31 to Michigan in their last two home games. Confidence Meter: 6
7:03- Oregon wins by Double digits: Click here for my picks in the top ten games today including this one. If this game was in Eugene, it would be a lock, but in LA I still think it’s a very solid pick. Confidence Meter: 5
8:05- Kansas State wins by double Digits: Click here for my picks in the top ten games today including this one. Oklahoma State won’t be able to stop the Wildcats and the K-state defense will limit the Cowboys potent offense. I’d be less confident if this was a road game for Kansas State, but they’re at home. Confidence Meter: 7
8:10- LSU wins or Single Digit Loss: I picked LSU to win in the article I’ve repeatedly referenced here, but getting the 9 points makes them an even better pick here. Only twice in the last 15 years has ‘Bama won by double-digits. One was last year in the national championship and the other was in Baton Rouge in 2002 when LSU was coached by this guy named Nick Saban who also will be involved in this showdown (click here for ESPN’s game recap and marvel at how things have changed in to years). Confidence Meter: 3
10:30- Oregon State: OSU burned streakers last week in a late game when they were upset in Washington. With Cody Vaz back under center and in Corvallis, I think they can avoid back to back losses as they face Arizona State in the nightcap. Confidence Meter: 6
