ESPN Streak for the Cash Picks and Analysis-November 21

It’s prep-day Wednesday as feasts across the country are assembled for the big day tomorrow. Get your Streak for the Cash entry ready with an appetizer of the 20 picks on the board from the Champions League, College Basketball, the NBA, and an international friendly as the Brazilians travel to Buenos Aires to face Argentina.

There’s surely a bountiful harvest of options throughout the day, but these are the picks I like the most coming into the day:

Streak Picks for 11/21

12:00- Malaga win or draw: Malaga won 3-0 in September and has earned a win or draw in every step of their Champions League journey thus far. Zenit St. Petersburg may be a little distracted by the recent drama against Dynamo Moscow when their goalkeeper was hit with a flare.  Malaga only needs a draw to move on to the next phase so even a bit short-handed I think Malaga will get it done. Confidence Meter: (out of 10)

2:45- Real Madrid win: Real has been powered by Ronaldo as usual in the UCL and he was the player who hit home the winner 3-2 when these teams met for the first time in group play in Madrid. City has yet to win with a pair of draws and a pair of losses. This should be a good one, but I’ll take Madrid to pull out another one-goal win against City who has struggled internationally despite their run of recent domestic success. Confidence Meter: 2

4:00- Boston College: Don’t go solely based on records here as these two teams meet in Chestnut Hills in a true home game for the Eagles. BC is actually favored by 4.5 although only 18.5% of streakers are going with them. Auburn’s two losses were to Murray State by 20 and Dayton by 10. BC also played Dayton losing by 16 while also dropping a 10-point game to Baylor and a 4-point game to the College of Charleston who Auburn beat by 4. Still, I think the Eagles get this win at home behind their young lineup of freshmen and sophomores at home behind the emerging leadership of Ryan Anderson. Anderson missed the last game against Charleston and my confidence drops if he misses this one as well, but with him in the lineup- Confidence Meter: 4

7:00- Argentina win or draw: Two of the best teams in South America continue their storied rivalry in Buenos Aires. The last time these teams met in the city Argentina won 3-1 in a World Cup Qualifier in 2005. They’ve met four times in the last two years with Argentina picking up a pair of wins and a draw while only dropping one game 2-0 to Brazil in September of last year. Argentina won 4-3 when they played in New Jersey in June and at home I think they’ll be able to get at least a draw. Confidence Meter: 5

7:05- Philadelphia 76ers: The Sixers play the Cavs who are only 2-8. Those 10 games were all with their best player Kyrie Irving on the floor which he won’t be for this game as he starts his recovery from a broken finger. Cleveland has lost six in a row and is now in search of a point guard. Jrue Holiday is leading the Sixers who are still without Andrew Bynum, but I think they’ll get the win in this game in Cleveland. Confidence Meter: 8

7:35- San Antonio Spurs: The Spurs come to Boston to start their six-game road trip a little banged-up especially in the frontcourt. The Celtics though have been inconsistent to start the season and lost to the Pistons by 20 their last time out. San Antonio has dropped two of the last three, but I’m just not confident in the C’s defense yet to pick them to get the win here. Confidence Meter: 4

Nov 19, 2012; Memphis, TN, USA; Denver Nuggets small forward Kenneth Faried (35) brings in the rebound during the game against the Memphis Grizzlies at FedExForum. Denver Nuggets defeat the Memphis Grizzlies 97-92. Mandatory Credit: Spruce Derden–US PRESSWIRE

8:05- Denver Nuggets: The Nuggets played on of their best games of the season their last time out knocking off the Grizzlies in Memphis. Now they’ll head to Minnesota who is playing incredibly short-handed with Ricky Rubio, Brandon Roy, Kevin Love, and Chase Budinger. Denver should be able to get the W here with Kenneth Faried dominating down low and Danilo Gallinari building on a successful game in Memphis. Confidence Meter: 6

8:35- New York Knicks: The Knicks are the hottest team in the NBA playing great while the Mavs continue to struggle without Dirk. New York blew out New Orleans last night but even with an extra day of rest I can’t pick Dallas who have lost five of seven with their only wins in that stretch coming against the Cavs and Wizards. These two teams met in Madison Square Garden and the Knicks won by 10 less than two weeks ago. Confidence Meter: 5

9:35- Michigan: The #4 ranked Wolverines head to Madison Square Garden for the NIT Season Tip-Off where they’ll meet the also-undefeated Pittsburgh Panthers. Coach John Beilein has Michigan scoring almost 90 points a game and looking like his old West Virginia teams as they rain three’s on their opposition. Anything could happen (as usual in NCAA basketball) but I don’t see Michigan getting upset in this one. Confidence Meter: 7

10:05- Butler: The Bulldogs were impressive as they destroyed North Carolina early and held on for the win to move to the finals of the Maui Invitational where they’ll face the Illini. Illinois rolled over Chaminade and is going to have a nice season, but I don’t think they’ll be able to overcome the hot-shooting Butler Bulldogs. Confidence Meter: 4
