ESPN Streak for the Cash Picks and Analysis-December 11

On a light Tuesday in ESPN’s Streak for the Cash there’s only eight picks on the board. The NBA and College basketball are on tap for tonight after some Turkish and English Soccer get things rolling this morning. Here’s the picks I like as he head into the middle third of the month:

Streak Picks for 12/11

12:00- Galatasaray to win by 2: Galatasaray are the top soccer club in Turkey and 1461 Trabzon Karadenizspor currently sit second in the 1. Lig. The 1. Lig is the second tier of Turkish clubs and 1461 has done well to get this far in Cup play. Galatasaray will be their toughest match and are heavily favored to win. It’s no lock to be sure, but they seem like the more likely pick. Confidence Meter: (out of 10)

2:45- Reading win or draw: Reading and Sunderland are both in the relegation zone in the EPL and in les than exceptional form (obviously). Sunderland hasn’t won a home game since September and have just two wins in their 15 EPL matches this season. Reading has been even worse as they come in 1-6-8 through their first 15 games. I think a draw is a real possibility and it easily could finish 0-0. I doubt more than one goal is scored regardless of the outcome, but I’ll take Reading since they’re getting the draw. Confidence Meter: 4

7:04- St. Joseph’s: I think the game-makers at Streak are trying to get people to pick Villanova based on name recognition because there isn’t much reason aside from that. St. Joseph’s are road favorites and come in with a 5-2 record having knocked off then-#20 Notre Dame and lost only to Florida State and then-#11 Creighton. On the other side of the court, ‘Nova has lost to LaSalle, Alabama, Temple, and even Columbia in their 5-4 start. St. Joe’s is actually a pretty solid pick here. Confidence Meter: 6

7:11- 17 points or less: Williams has averaged 16.8 points per game while Joe Johnson has added 16.0 so far this season. Johnson and Williams have been trending a little upwards over their last five games though averaging 17.8 and 19.0 respectively. However, in their last meeting this would have been under as Johnson scored just 8 points the whole game. In his last game Johnson struggled as well finishing with just 6. At first glace, this looks like it’ll be an easy over, but when you look at the numbers I actually think under is more likely. It’s going to be close either way, but I’ll go under Confidence Meter: 4

9:45- LA Clippers: In a nice NBA nightcap even with only five games on the schedule, the Clippers travel to Chicago to take on the Bulls. The Clip-ship has own six in a row for the second time this season and have been crushing teams by an average margin of 16.8 points. The Bulls are short-handed in the backcourt with Derrick Rose and Richard Hamilton sidelined and Kirk Hinrich day-to-day coming into this contest. Their defense has been carrying them though as they’ve gone on a nice little three game winning streak of their own. The Clippers won by 21 in the first meeting of these two teams and will look to sweep the series tonight. Confidence Meter: 7
