ESPN Streak for the Cash Picks and Breakdown, December 17

C.J. Fair  and the Syracuse Orange look to continue their red-hot start at the Carrier Dome as they host Detroit. They’re one of the best picks in ESPN’s Streak for the Cash on this Monday, December 17. Photo by Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

After a tough Sunday in Streak for the Cash, Monday’s board doesn’t offer much in the way of easy picks. In fact, the 12 picks are all a little iffy in my opinion. They are well-chosed but none feel like locks which could make for a long Monday. Here’s the picks I like the most of the 12 college basketball, NBA, and soccer options we have to choose from.

Streak Picks 12/17

3:00- Arsenal win: Arsenal takes on Reading at Madejski Stadium in the EPL to get things rolling today. Reading has lost it’s last three matches in the EPL outright and are at the bottom of the table with a 1-6-9 start to the season. Arsenal is 6-6-4 so far and had been playing well on the road before getting upset in the Capital One Cup. The faced Reading  in the Capital One Cup in the round before and won 7-5. Look for the Gunners to come out firing and get the full three points. Confidence Meter: 4

7:03- Syracuse by 20+: The Orange have been dominant throughout their 9-0 start and have won every game by 20 or more except for their road game at Arkansas. Tonight they’ll face Detroit who is 6-4. In the Titans four losses they have not lost any by more than 13, but have not played a ranked opponent to this point in the season. I think Syracuse should cruise to the win here, but giving 20 points is never something I’m a big fan of. Confidence Meter: 6

8:40- Tennessee Titans: The Jets offense has been a mess, but so has the Titans defense. It’ll be the classic matchup of a resistible force against a movable object. The Titans have played better at home and have beaten the Lions and Steelers in Tennessee earlier this season. Last week they hung right in there with the Colts before losing 27-23. Take the home team, and stay away from picking Mark Sanchez and the Jets. However, it’s not like the Titans are playing great having dropped five of their last six so don’t put anything major on this one. Confidence Meter: 3

8:40- No Either does not record a TD in the 1st half: Both QBs have struggled so one could easily be kept out of the endzone. Rushing TDs from Chris Johnson or Shonn Greene won’t count for this prop since it has to be the QB that scores the TD. Confidence Meter: 4

9:05- Cornell single-digit loss or win: Vanderbilt hosts 4-5 Cornell in a matchup of struggling hoops teams. The Commodores’ big win was two game ago against Xavier as they knocked off the X-men in overtime to get an awesome road win. However, they’ve struggled the rest of the season despite playing no ranked teams. Cornell has also dropped some tough games to Stony Brook, ASU, and even St. Peter’s.  They’ve only lost by double digits three times and I think these two teams are actually pretty even. I’ll take the points and the Big Red for the green. Confidence Meter: 4
