ESPN Streak for the Cash Picks and Analysis, December 20

The Miami Heat led by LeBron James (right) and Dwyane Wade (left) head to Dallas tonight in one of the ESPN Streak for the Cash picks on the schedule for tonight. Check out my favorite picks of the day below. Photo by Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Streak for the Cash fans got an early Christmas present yesterday as ESPN officially announced that their current picking competition would continue for another year. Hopefully, you celebrated by getting plenty of green. I had mixed results after a strong start to the day and finished on a one-game losing streak. Here’s how I plan on turning that around with today’s picks from international soccer and hockey along with plenty of basketball and a bowl game tonight.

Streak Picks 12/20

10:30- CSKA Moscow: Moscow is favored since they are at home, but this is a fairly even matchup from the Kontinental Hockey League. Both teams have won four of their last five. Moscow is 9-6 at home and AK Bars Kaza are 9-6 on the road. This is a pretty even matchup, so I’ll go with the home team. Confidence Meter: (out of 10)

4:00- Real Sociedad win: In this La Liga match, Sociedad takes on Sevilla. Sevella is 5-4-7 through 16 games while Sociedad is 6-4-6. Sevilla has dropped three of their last four matches in La Liga while Sociedad is 3-3-0 in their last six. In February, Soceidad won at home 2-0 over Sevilla in their last meeting. Confidence Meter: 4

7:15- Oklahoma City: The Thunder have won 12 in a row and beat the Hawks in Atlanta last night behind 68 points from Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook as the two continued to dominate. They’ll be playing back-to-back night’s which is the only reason to doubt them and their league best 21-4 record. They’ll be in Minnesota tonight as they take on Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio who are still just working their way back. The T-Wolves have lost their last two games, but are 7-2 at home this season. Confidence Meter: 6

8:03- San Diego State: My full bowl analysis can be found by clicking hereConfidence Meter: 4

9:30- Miami Heat: The Heat visit Dallas in the later NBA on TNT game. Dallas has stumbled to a 12-13 start to the season and had dropped three in a row before beating the visiting (and ailing) Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday. Miami has won four of five although they did lose their last road game in Washington back on December 4. I don’t see a repeat of that one, and I think the Heat will get the win easily. Confidence Meter: 8

10:00- Denver Nuggets: In probably the most even match of the night, the Nuggets head west to take on the Blazers in Portland. The Nuggets have won their last three including a nice win over San Antonio on Tuesday in their last game. Denver is surging right now behind Danilo Gallinari and Kenneth Faried who should be enough to power the Nuggs past Portland who will be without LaMarcus Aldridge and possibly Wesley Matthews due to injury. The Blazers are formidable at home-winning six of their last seven at the Rose Garden, but I think Denver can get past them and continue their high-scoring roll. Confidence Meter: 5
