ESPN Streak for the Cash Picks and Analysis, December 22

Can Sparty and the Michigan State Spartans defend their home court and beat the Texas Longhorns by 10 or more? That’s just one of the picks given here in our ESPN Streak for the Cash preview for December 22. Photo by Mike Carter-USA TODAY Sports

It’s a full Saturday of Streak for the Cash action with a ton of picks from college basketball, College Bowls, the EPL, and the NBA. There’s even a Monday Night Football game that has been transplanted from Christmas Eve and serves as our first Saturday night NFL game of the year. Of the 26 picks on the board, these are the ones I like the most:

Streak Picks for 12/12

7:45- Arsenal win: The Gunners go on the road to take on Wigan in this early morning EPL pick. On the season Arsenal enters at 7-6-4 and Wigan at 4-3-10. The Latics have lost three of their last four and their last three road games as they’ve dropped back to the relegation zone. Arsenal has finally gathered some momentum winning their last two including a nice 5-2 road win at Reading last week. Confidence Meter: 5 (out of 10)

12:05- Louisiana-Lafayette: The ULL Ragin Cajuns are a solid pick in this one as I outlined in my complete preview available by clicking hereConfidence Meter: 7

12:30- Liverpool win: Liverpool has been playing better recently although they do struggle to score goals. Because of that it’s hard to pick them against the draw, but Fulham has been absolutely a mess lately with four losses in their last six EPL games and a 1-4-4 record on the road this season. While 0-0 is a possibility, I think the Reds will find a way to get the win and the three points they desperately need in this one. Confidence Meter: 4

2:05- Michigan State wins by Double Digits: Texas is coming off a huge win over North Carolina this week, but don’t get any rest as they head to East Lansing to take on the #20-ranked Michigan State Spartans. MSU is 10-2 having won their last five games all by double-digits. The Longhorns had been struggling before knocking off the Heels ans should come back to earth as they battle Tom Izzo’s experienced squad who has played especially well at home (8-0). Confidence Meter: 6

Nov 17,2012; Boise,ID, USA; Boise State Broncos defensive end Samuel Ukwuachu (82), defensive tackle Ricky Tjong-A-Tjoe (43) and tackle Greg Grimes (91) and defensive tackle Darren Koontz (95) after the conclusion of the game against the Colorado State Rams at Bronco Stadium. 3:33- Boise State Broncos: Boise is a solid pick in this one as I outlined in my complete preview available by clicking hereConfidence Meter: 8

6:05- Missouri: In a matchup of top 15 teams, this year’s Braggin’ Rights game between Mizzou and Illinois should be a great one. The two teams enter with a combined record of 21-1. Their’s reasons to go with both teams, but I’m going with the Tigers since the game is in St. Louis, they have won the past three matchups in this series, and they have an advantage on the boards and on the bench. My pick is that the Tigers give the Illini their first loss on the year in this one. Confidence Meter: 3

7:00- Chicago Bulls: The Bulls got a big win last night going into Madison Square Garden and knocking off the Knicks. They’ll head south to take on the Hawks who played last night as well, but with much less favorable results as they fell to the Sixers in Philly. The Hawks have lost three of their last four and needed overtime to get their only win during that stretch over the lowly Wizards. The Bulls are tough and should be able to beat up the Hawks down low. Confidence Meter: 4

8:05- Florida wins by Double-Digits: In the a game called the Hy-Vee Wildcat Classic taking place in Kansas City, the K-State Wildcats take on the Florida Gators. Florida comes in at 8-1 with their only loss coming at Arizona last Saturday. They have absolutely blown their opponent out in there other games with an average victory of over 25 points per game. Their press defense will bother the Wildcats who are off to a good start to their season at well at 8-2. Their two losses have come in their two games against ranked opponents-losing to Michigan by 15 and Gonzaga by 16. I think the Gators will win by about that much too. Confidence Meter: 6

8:30- Atlanta Falcons: The Falcons are 12-2. The Lions lost last week to the Cardinals and looked horrible doing it. Atlanta is favored by just four, and the Lions are potent offensively. However, there’s not much reason to overthink this one. Pick the team going to the playoffs. Confidence Meter: 7

10:30- Golden State Warriors: The Lakers have finally starting winning but have only beaten the Bobcats, Sixers, and Wizards. Color me largely un-impressed. If they get a win at the ORACLE Arena against a hot Golden State team tonight, it’ll be their best road win in a long time. On the year, they’re just 4-8 on the road, while the Warriors are 8-3 at home. The only reason I’m not more confident is that the Warriors played last night while LA didn’t, but I still like them for the win. Confidence Meter: 4
