ESPN Streak for the Cash Picks and Analysis, December 26

The Milwaukee Bucks and guard Monta Ellis (11) host the Brooklyn Nets in their second meeting of the season tonight at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. They are just one of the picks I like tonight in ESPN’s Streak for the Cash. Find all my picks below. Photo by Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome back to a regular Streak for the Cash day after yesterday’s crazy 25-pick stunt action. It was lots of fun to follow along with some great NBA games in what’s becoming a great annual tradition. It helped that my Celtics won, but overall I thoroughly enjoyed it. My picks posted yesterday ended up 13-12 as you’d expect with coin-flip picks like most of the props yesterday were. I was able to help my entry though as I stuck to my confident picks and won five in a row to get my streak to seven. Check all my results at the bottom of the page.

Today, there’s 12 picks on the board with three early soccer games, three 7:00 tips in the NBA, three picks from the Little Caesars Bowl, and three later NBA games tipping off at 8:00 and 9:00. Here’s the picks I like the most as we head into this after-Christmas Christmas.

Streak Picks for 12/26

Joe Toth-USA TODAY Sports

10:00- Manchester United wins by 2+ Goals: Man U faces a injury-ravaged Newcastle United team at Old Trafford as they look to extend their scant four-point lead atop the EPL table. Newcastle comes into this Boxing Day matchups having won just twice in their last 12 matches. They’ve lost outright their last four road games. Man U, on the other hand, has been in good form winning five of their last six EPL games and their last five at home. I hate giving the extra goal, but I’m confidence the Red Devils get the win here. Confidence Meter: (out of 10)

12:30- Tottenham Hotspur win: The Spurs are rolling up the table going 4-1-1 in their last six EPL matches. In this matchup, they’ll travel to Villa Park to take on an Aston Villa team that was crushed 8-0 on Saturday by Chelsea. Losing 8-0 takes time to recover from and the Spurs won 2-0 when the two sides met earlier this season. I don’t know that they’ll win by two, but I do think their the right pick to get the win. Confidence Meter: 4

2:45- Stoke City win or draw: Stoke getting the draw at home is a nice post-Christmas gift for streakers as they host Liverpool. Liverpool is just 2-4-2 on the road this season while Stoke is 4-4-0 at home. They don’t score tons of goals, but their defensive style should be able to net them at least a draw against a Liverpool team that’s still finding its way. Confidence Meter: 5

7:00- Cleveland Cavaliers: The Cavs backcourt of Kyrie Irving and Dion Waiters carried them to victory over the Bucks on Saturday to snap a six game losing streak. Washington extended their skid to seven as they lost on the road to the Pistons. Irving and Waiters should be able to exploit the Wizards’ backcourt as they did the first times these teams met and lead the Cavs to another win over the Wizards. The Wizards are actually one-point favorites but I think the Cavs are definitely the better team although they will be hurt by the absence once again of Anderson Varejao. Confidence Meter: 5

7:30- Western Kentucky Hilltoppers: Here’s my full analysis of the Little Caesars BowlConfidence Meter: 7

8:00- Milwaukee Bucks: In a very evenly-matched game the 14-13 Nets go on the road to face the 14-12 Bucks. The Bucks are 7-6 at home and the Nets are 5-6 on the road. The two main reasons I like the Bucks here is history and rest. The two teams met earlier this season and Milwaukee won 97-88 in Brooklyn. They’re also the more rested team since the Nets played (and lost to) the Celtics yesterday while Milwaukee hasn’t played since Saturday. This should be a great backcourt matchup as Deron Williams and Joe Johnson of the Nets face off with Monta Ellis and Brandon Jennings of the Bucks. Confidence Meter: 6

9:20- Fourth Quarter: Fourth quarter is usually the right pick here, but as usual with props it could go either way. I’d stay away unless you’re coming off a loss or with a short streak. Confidence Meter: 3
