Ohio State Buckeyes guard Aaron Craft (4) and forward Deshaun Thomas (1) will be fired up to get back in the win column tonight against Purdue. It should be a good game, but I’ll take OSU in their prop matchup on ESPN’s Streak for the Cash. Photo by Bradley Leeb-USA TODAY Sports

After a BCS beatdown last night wrapped up the college football season, the Streak for the Cash picks don’t slow down at all with 16 picks to get us through this Tuesday. There’s no NHL picks yet, but we still do have the KHL to start things this morning at 8:30. The hockey pick is followed by some soccer this afternoon and plenty of college and pro basketball tonight. Here’s the picks I like the most on today’s board:

1/8 Streak Picks

8:30- AK Bars Kazan: Bars is second in the East as they host West leader SKA St. Petersburg. St Petersburg has taken the last two games including one on October first earlier this season. Bars is really good at home though so far this season and SKA will be losing some of their players as the NHL gets fired back up. There doesn’t seem to be a consensus on the internet if those players will miss this game or not, so go with the home-ice advantage and Bars Kazan but not too confidently.  Confidence Meter: (out of 10)

2:45- South Africa win: Norway heads to Cape Town for an international friendly with South Africa as the South Africans gear up for the Africa Cup of Nations starting later this month. The Bafana Bafana should be at full strength and be highly motivated to generate some buzz at home headed for a tournament hosted in South Africa. Norway’s squad is a bit inexperienced, so I think the South Africans should be able to get a nice win here although international friendlies can be tricky to predict.. Confidence Meter: 6

3:30- Valencia win by 2+: Osasuna head to Valencia in this Copa Del Ray match. Osasuna is 3-5-10 in La Liga at the bottom of the table while Valencia sits eighth at 8-3-7. Valencia beat them 2-0 on the road in the first leg and should be able to do the same or get an even better result as long as they field their full sqaud today. Confidence Meter: 4

7:02- Missouri wins by Double Digits: The Tigers of Missouri host ‘Bama’s basketball team the night after their football team won the championship. This is the SEC opener for both teams who have played tough non-conference schedules which they struggled at the end of. Mizzou lost at UCLA and edged Bucknell in their last two games but had a nice win over then-#10 Illinois and a string of five double-digit wins before that. Alabama has lost five of seven after a 6-0 start including a 19-point loss at VCU who Missouri beat by three earlier this season. This should be a good one, but the difference will be on the boards where Missouri leads the nation in rebounded with 46.7 boards per game while the Crimson Tide rank 261st with 33.0 rebounds per game. The Tigers are 10.5 point favorites according to Vegas and Alabama is 1-5 in their last six against the spread. Confidence Meter: 6

7:02- Phil Pressey: Pressey has a first-half points prop against Trevor Relaford in the Mizzou Alabama game. Pressey averages 13.8 points per game while Relaford scored 15.6 on the year. The difference has been in their scoring lately with Pressey pouring in 12, 19, and 26 in his last three while Relaford has scored 19, 8, and 18. It’s a close pick (as usual) with these props, but I’ll go with the team I think will win and the scorer who has the hot hand with Pressey. Confidence Meter: 3

7:03- Baylor wins by Double Digits: Baylor needed overtime to beat a hot Texas Longhorn team in their Big XII opener their last game and head to 8-4 Texas Tech tonight. The spread is 10 here as well, meaning it’s likely to be a close prop. Texas Tech has lost two games this year by double digits falling to Arizona and Arizona State by more than 10 while three of Baylor’s last four wins have come by double-digits. This is another very close prop, but I think Baylor can cover. Confidence Meter: 3 1/2

7:05- Miami Heat: Miami’s just 2.5 point favorites against Indiana in their first meeting of the season. Indiana is an impressive 12-3 at home and have won their last seven at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse. In this NBA Playoff rematch, I’ll take the Heat, but it’s not as much of a lock as it first appears. Confidence Meter: 4

8:05- Houston Rockets: The Rockets host the banged up and struggling Lakers tonight at the Toyota Center where they’re 13-6 on the year. Pau Gasol, Jordan Hill, and Dwight Howard will all sit tonight as the Lakers start Robert Sacre the last player taken in last year’s draft and freshly called up from the D-League. Houston and LA split their earlier meetings with both teams winning at home. With LA dropping it’s last three overall and just 5-10 on the road this season, Houston makes a nice pick against the injury-depleted Lakers. Houston is 9-1 against the spread in their last ten while the Lakers have covered just once in their last five. Confidence Meter: 6

9:05- Ohio State Winning Margin: The Buckeyes look to bounce back  from a 19 point loss at Illinois as they head to the Mackey Arena to take on Purdue. While the Boilermakers have shown that they can pull off the upset at he by beating the same Illini two games ago, the Buckeyes are the more talented offensive team and should be able to cruise past Purdue. This prop is against 3PM which Purdue averages just 4.2 per game while I think OSU wins this one by 8-10 easily. The spread is currently at seven for this game and both teams have struggled against it recently-Purdue is 1-5 and OSU is 2-4 in their last six. Confidence Meter: 7

9:06- Georgetown Hoyas: Georgetown and Pitt both enter this one looking for their first win in Big East play. The Hoyas fell to Marquette after a two-week layoff on Saturday while the Panthers have lost at home to Cincinnati and at Rutgers. Georgetown is favored by just two, but I think they’ll be able to get the win at home. Confidence Meter: 4
