ESPN Streak for the Cash Picks and Analysis, January 12

It’s another pick-stuffed Saturday of Streak for the Cash goodness with 28 matchups on the board from across the world of sports. We start in England with an EPL soccer match before a bevy of afternoon basketball picks mixed with a few more soccer options from France and Spain. The NFL games all feature a full-game and a pair of half props and there are plenty more picks from the college and pro basketball games tonight. Here’s my favorties after a solid but not spectacular day yesterday:

Picks for 1/12

7:45- Tottenham Hotspur win: Tottenham is third in the table with a solid 6-2-2 away mark as they visit QPR who have spent most of the year in the relegation zone and currently sit 20th of the 20 teams in the Premier LEague. They’re just 1-4-5 at home but did get a nice 1-0 road win over Chelsea in their last EPL game January 2. They’ve lost their last two home matches and three of four overall. The Spurs have won four in a row including road wins at Aston Villa and Sunderland. They should be able to come out with a full three points from this one against their former manager Harry Redknapp who is now at QPR. Confidence Meter: (out of 10)

12:00- Virginia Cavaliers: Virginia looks to bounce back from a tough three-point loss at Wake Forest after a huge win over North Carolina. The Cavaliers have been up-and-down throughout the early going this season while Clemson has been mostly just down. They got housed by Duke in their last game scoring just 10 points in the first half and falling to 0-2 in the ACC. Confidence Meter: 4

1:05- Alabama Crimson Tide: ‘Bama got off to a nice start but has lost three of four and six of eight after winning their first six. This afternoon they’ll host Tennessee who has also struggled losing their last two to Memphis and Ole Miss both at home. Neither team is among the SEC hoops elite, but Trevor Releford has emerged as a solid scoring option for the Tide and I don’t the the Vols will have what it takes to go into Tuscaloosa and get a win. Confidence Meter: 6

2:00- Butler Bulldogs: The 14th ranked Bulldogs head to Dayton looking to improve to 14-2 on the season. Butler has won its last 10 and is coming off a nice road win over preseason A-10 favorite Saint Joe’s. Dayton lost their conference opener at VCU and continue to struggle with turning the ball over. It’s a pick’em game on many sites but remember Dayton has lost this year at home to Illinois State and Weber State and haven’t played a ranked opponent all year on their was to a 10-5 start. Confidence Meter: 5

2:00- Colorado Buffaloes: UCLA is UCLA, and they’ve started well in the Pac-12 winning their first three matchups, but I don’t think they’ll go on the road to Boulder and knock off the Buffs. Colorado is just 1-2 in conference after getting hosed in Arizona in a game they should have won and then losing to a tough Arizona State team on the road. They righted the ship and improved to 7-0 at home with a win over USC on Wednesday. UCLA has won eight in a row but only one of those was a true road game as they beat Utah by four is Salt Lake City Thursday. Even with the Bruins playing better, I’ll take the hard-fighting Buffaloes for the win. Confidence Meter: 4

3:05- Oklahoma Sooners: The Sooners host their in-state rival Oklahoma State Cowboys in Norman today a nice win over West Virginia to open their Big 12 schedule. OSU  had lost two in a row before a 18-point victory at home over TCU in their last game. Oklahome is greatly improved this year and this should be a great game. In these close rivalry games, it’s always good to go with the home team and OU is the slight favorite in this one. Confidence Meter: 3

4:02- Florida wins by Double Digits: The Gators are favored by 11 as they head to LSU to take on the 9-3 Tigers. Florida has returned to trouncing people after losing at Arizona and on a neutral floor to Kansas State in a three game span just before Chirstmas. They’ve won big in all their wins with Georgia being their latest victim 77-44 in their SEC opener. LSU lost their conference play opener at Auburn 68-63 and have yet to play a ranked school this season. The Tigers are 8-0 at home but Florida should be able to use their press to roll past their rival. Confidence Meter: 6

4:35- Broncos win by double-digits: The Broncos rolled over the Ravens in Baltimore and should be able to do the same in Denver today. Click here for my full analysisConfidence Meter: 7

7:30- Detroit Pistons: The Pistons are favored although most Streak pickers are going with the Jazz. Detroit has a solid 10-9 record at home and is coming off a nice win in Milwaukee last night. Utah fell in Atlanta last night dropping their road record to 8-15. The Pistons are 7-2 in their last nine games with their only losses coming in overtime to Atlanta and Charlotte. Since this game is at The Palace, I’ll go with the Pistons. Confidence Meter: 4

8:02- Arizona wins by Double-Digits: Arizona’s undefeated start to the season can to a screeching halt against the Oregon Ducks on Thursday and they’ll continue a tough road trip as they travel to Corvallis to take on the Oregon State Beavers, a matchup in which they’re favored by 10. I think they’ll bounce back and get an easy win on the road over the Beavers who has lost three of their last four all of which have been at home. Confidence Meter: 6

8:05- Green Bay Packers: This is the most interesting matchup of the weekend to me, and I think ultimately the Packers get the win as I wrote in my full post which you can find by clicking hereConfidence Meter: 4

9:00- Memphis Grizzlies: The Dallas Mavericks salvaged the final game of their trip in overtime against the Kings on Thursday while the Grizz got a big win at home over the San Antonio Spurs last night. It’s never a sure thing to pick a team going back-t0-back games but the Mavs are just 3-13 in their last 16 games and needed all they had to outlast the Kings. Confidence Meter: 5
