We welome the NHL back to ESPN Streak for the Cash with the most picks I can remember on a non-stunt day in a long time. There’s a pick for every NHL game along with the usual Saturday stock of EPL, NBA, and college basketball games. There’s already 40 on the board as I’m writing this and we don’t have an Aussie Open picks up. If you can’t find a pick you like today, I think we can officially call your entry abandoned and move on. Here’s the picks I like the most:

Streak Picks for 1/19

10:00- Any Other Result: Everywhere I’ve looked I’m finding the real spread at -1.5 so we’re getting a free goal in this one if we take AOR. Man City has three wins this season by three or more, but Fulham hasn’t been that horrible losing just three times by more than two and getting a craw or win in three of their last four EPL games. They did have a cup match earlier this week which they won as well so I think they can at least cover here. Confidence Meter: (out of 10)

11:00- Coastal Carolina Chanticleers: Coastal Carolina hosts VMI in this morning tipoff on ESNPU. Although VMI can definitely score (6th in the nation) and are undefeated in-conference this will be a tough road test for them. The Keydets have played seven true road games and have only managed wins over Presbyteriand (last in the Big South) and Old Dominion (2-15). Coastal Carolina has already taken a couple tough road losses at Gradner-Webb and Liberty the last two games and will be looking to come home and get a big win. In these smaller conferences, home court is a huge advantage and VMI hasn’t won in Conway since 2008, so I’ll go with Coastal to pull the mild upset. Confidence Meter: 3

12:02- UNC Winning Margin: The Maryland Terps are six point underdogs as they head to Chapel Hill to take on the Tar Heels. UNC has burned streakers all season with their inconsistent play and have caused some fairly major leaderboard crashes. When the Heels are on, they can be excellent but they’ve also lost to Miami, Texas, and Virginia in their last six games. Maryland has also lost to Miami and was beaten at home by Florida State last Saturday. On Wednesday though, they were able to get a nice signature win over #14 NC State, but even in that game they only made three three-pointers. They average 5.5 per game but have played a fairly soft schedule and have only two true road games all season. UNC’s schedule has been better and most of their losses have come on the road. They did get a solid road win their last time out beating FSU, and with that momentum and being at home I thikn they can take down the turtles. Confidence Meter: 4

12:03- UConn wins or single-digit loss: Pittsburgh already has three in-conference losses as they host the Huskies this afternoon. In their last two home games they’ve lost to Marquette and Cincinnati while conversely winning on the road big over Georgetown and Villanova. UConn fell to #1 Louisville  on Monday but was in the game until late. In their two true road games they’ve shown some serious toughness beating then-#17 ND and forcing Marquette to overtime before losing by 6. I don’t know if the Huskies can go into Pitt and win, but I do think they’ll keep it close. Confidence Meter: 5

1:00- Penn State Nitany Lions: Penn State are four point favorites that we can have as a straight-up pick here on Streak as they host Nebraska in a matchup of big 10 non-elites. Both teams are 0-5 in conference but the Nittany Lions kept it close (nine points) in their last game against Michigan State. Meanwhile the Huskers have been within ten of MSU, Purdue, and Wisconsin but were blown away by Michigan and Ohio State. Neither team is great, but since they’re at home I think Penn State is the pick. Confidence Meter: 4

Jan 17, 2013; College Station, TX, USA; Florida Gators guard Kenny Boynton (1) handles the ball against the Texas A

2:02- Florida winning Margin or Tie: The Gators have been crushing everyone in their path inside the SEC and out. They trashed Texas A&M by 21 their last time out and LSU by 22 the game before taht. Both those games were on the road and the closest anyone has come at home to beat thing Gaors was UCF who lost by 13. The Gators are 13 1/2 point favorites so this prop is a creative one as they take on Missouri’s free throws made. The Tigers have made 18, five, 15, and seven their last four games with the low numbers coming at Ole Miss where they lost by 15 and against Bucknell where they won by just a pair. Florida hasn’t allowed anyone to reach 70 against their smothering defense yet this year so I think Mizzou finishes with about 9 FTM and the Gators with by 15. Confidence Meter: 6

2:05- Kansas wins by Double Digits: The Jayhawks are 8 1/2 point favorites as they fly south to take on Texas. Kansas is 3-0 in the Big 12 while Texas is on the flipside with a 0-3 record. They dropped two of their first three conference games in overtime before getting rolled by Iowa State by 20. KU should be at full strength with Ben McLemore and if they are I think they’ll cover fairly easily. Confidence Meter: 7

3:00- Pittsburgh Penguins: The Pens start their season by visiting their cross-state rivals the Philadelphia Flyers. All the hockey picks are going to be tricky since these teams haven’t played for so long and we have no idea the current form or overall team chemistry. Still, I’ll go with by best pick for you; just don’t expect too much confidence in them. Confidence Meter: 3

3:00- Los Angeles Kings: The Kings start their Stanley Cup defense at home against Chicago. They’re fairly heavily favored over the Blackhawks on their home ice. Confidence Meter: 4

4:00- Creighton Blue Jays: Creighton puts their 17-1 record on the line as they face their MVC rival Wichita State Shockers. The Shockers are actually favored by a deuce, but I think Creighton can go on the road and win this one using their high-powered, high-percentage offense to overcome the more defensively minded Shockers. This isn’t the slam dunk streakers are picking it to be with over 90% on the Jays, but I do think they’ll pull it out. Confidence Meter: 3

4:00- UCLA Bruins: I love the Ducks. I’ve taken Oregon to win over Arizona and USC in their last two games and think they’ll make some noise down the stretch and in the tournament. I’m picking UCLA in this one though since Oregon floundered late against the Trojans in their last game and UCLA has really stepped up their offense and are finally playing up to their sky-high potential. These two teams are a combined 30-5 and haven’t lost any of their nine Pac-12 games. In Oregon I’d take the Ducks, but at Pauley Pavilion I think UCLA might even break out a little defense for the win in what’s sure to be an incredble game. Confidence Meter: 5

4:03- Louisville winning Margin: I’m a ‘Cuse fan, so I can’t be totally objective here as they travel to Louisville. I would love to be wrong, but I don’t think the Orange can go on the road with James Southerland sitting this one out and the Cardinals defense at the level they played the second half at UConn and keep this one close. The rematch March 2 in Syracuse will be a good one, but at home as #1 I think Rick Pitino will have the Cards firing on all cylinders and they’ll win by around 10. Confidence Meter: 4

6:00- Michigan State Spartans:  The Ohio State Buckeyes head to East Lansing having already been blow out on the road in conference by Illinois. MSU hasn’t been blowing people out but they have been getting wins taking 10 of their last 11 with their one loss coming at Minnesota. The Spartans are two point favorites and the home court is worth more to me than just a few rankings spots. The game really comes down to the play of Deshaun Thomas who can completely carry Ohio State, but if he doesn’t I like the Spartans chances. Confidence Meter: 6

7:00- Sacramento Kings: The Kings take on the Bobcats in Charlotte trying to extend their home losing streak that dates all the way back to November 21. Charlotte got a win their last time out on the road in Orlando, and Sacramento fell in Memphis. Both of these teams are struggling this season, but I’m not sure who on Charlotte can defend DeMarcus Cousins so I’ll take the Kings to win behind big games from Cousins and Jason Thompson. Confidence Meter: 4

7:00- Cincinnati Bearcats: The Bearcats are 6 1/2 point favorites at home as they host the 25th-ranked Marquette Golden Eagles. It’s an in-conference game between two fairly evenly matched teams so follow the line and take Cincinnati. Confidence Meter: 7

7:00- New Jersey Devils: Of all the 7:00 puck drops, the Devils taking on the Islanders is the one I like the most as a nice mismatch to get the green in. Confidence Meter: 3

8:00- Nashville Predators: The Preds open at home against the Columbus Blue Jackets. This is the most lopsided of all the NHL picks of the day since last season Columbus was the worst team in the Western Conference while Nashville finished fourth. The fact that the game is in Nashville only adds to my confidence. Confidence Meter: 6

9:00- Gonzaga Bulldogs: Gonzaga will take on Butler in the last of the marquee college hoops matchups today. The Zags have been impressive getting to 17-1 on the season and getting some quality wins along the way. Their only loss was to then-#13 Illinois at home. Tonight they’ll face their fellow Bulldogs of Butler who  are 15-2. Butler also lost to Illinois but also went down early in the season to Xavier. I think what makes the difference here is the balance, depth, and size of the Zags. They’re three-point favorites even on the road and I think they’ll get the win in Indy. Confidence Meter: 5

10:00- Portland Trail Blazers: The Blazers have stumbled lately dropping four in a row  including a loss at home to the Cavs on Wednesday. However, they’re still 13-6 at home as the host the Milwaukee Bucks tonight who are just 10-9 away from Milwaukee. Milwaukee eked out a win in Phoenix on Thursday, but will face a tougher challenge in Portland. Nicolas Batum has emerged as a great weapon in Portland and along with rookie sensation Damian Lillard and LaMarcus Aldridge should be too much firepower for Milwaukee to handle. Confidence Meter: 4

10:00- Vancouver Canucks: Vancouver has historically been great at home and Anaheim is not expected to be as good as the Canucks this season. Confidence Meter: 3

11:05- Washington wins by double-digits: The Huskies close out the day as they host the Utah Utes. Washington is 4-0 in Pac-12 play and Utah is 0-5. Vegas has Washington as 10 1/2 point favorites at home. They beat Colorado by 10 their last time out coming off a trio of impressive road wins at Washington State, Cal, and Stanford. Utah, meanwhile, has been much less impressive losing by double-digits to Washington State and USC in their last two games after starting Pac-12 play with three closer losses to Arizona, ASU, and UCLA. Washington is playing well now that everyone’s back from injury and should continue their positive momentum against a team trending the opposite direction. Confidence Meter: 6
