It’s time to wipe the slate clean and start fresh with a new month on ESPN Streak for the Cash as we get started with February today with a full board ahead of us. In big Streak news, the official twitter of Streak for the Cash @ESPN_Streak tweeted that the Groundhog Day Prop will be making an appearance again this year, so look forward to that later in the month.

In today’s groundhog-free edition, there’s picks from the NHL, NBA, and college basketball tonight. Earlier in the day there are prop picks from the PGA Tour’s Waste Management Phoenix Open and soccer from Turkey, France, and Spain. Of all the picks on the board today, these are the ones I’m looking at picking.

Streak Picks 2/1

10:06- Nick Watney or tie: In this nine-hole prop, Watney gets the tie as he goes up against Bubba Watson. These players finished late yesterday so are one of the early groups off today. In round 1, Watney finished -6 overall while Watson was -4. It was a bit closer over these nine holes as Watson was -2 and Watney was -3. Getting the tie, I think Watney is the pick here although I’m a bit biased since he was one of my fantasy golf picks for this week. Confidence Meter: 4

1:00- Besiktas win: Besiktas is currently tied for second in the Super Lig as they take on Karabukspor who sits in the middle of the table. Besiktas won 3-0 when the two sides met at Karabukspor earlier this season.  Besiktas is 4-5-1 at home with a nice +9 differential. A draw is definitely a possibility, but I’ll take the better team at home for the win. Confidence Meter: (out of 10)

2:25- Brandt Snedeker: Sneds has started this PGA Tour season on fire and is tied for second after round 1 after opening with a seven-under-par round. In this prop he’ll take on Predraig Harrington who is playing his first Tour event but matched Snedeker yesterday with a -7 of his own. Both players had seven birdies, but Snedeker added an eagle and a pair of bogies while Paddy matched his with 11 solid pars. Both players are coming off a good start to the tournament, but based on his recent play and history at this event I’ll take Snedeker to win this 18-hole prop. Confidence Meter: 6 (note: this prop could lock your entry for the rest of the afternoon and could be a push if they are unable to finish the round like yesterday’s)

3:30- Athletic Bilboa win or draw: Bilboa has had a tough season as they come into this La Liga matchup in the lower half of the table. They’ll take on Real Valladolid who are three points ahead of them in the standings. Bilboa has played a bit better as of late with a draw and win in their last two matches. Valladolid lost their last game but has won their last two at home. Getting the draw, Bilboa is favored by the bookmakers (-152). When to two sides met earlier this season, Bilboa got the 2-0 win at home and I think they’ll be able to get a draw on the road even though they’ve struggled on the road this season. Confidence Meter: 4

7:00- Ottawa Senators: Ottawa is flying high with a 5-1-1 record to start the season as they head to Raleigh to take on the Hurricanes. Carolina is 2-3-0 with their only victories coming in back-to-back wins over Buffalo. The Senators are fifth in the league in goals per game and third in least goals allowed. They’re coming off a convincing 5-1 win over Montreal, but will need to get this win without star goalscorer Jason Spezza who is out indefinitely with a herniated disc in his back. I still think they’ll be able to overcome his absence to get this win behind red-hot goaltender Craig Anderson who is 5-0-1 with a .99 goals against average. Confidence Meter: 6

7:00- Washington Capitals: The Capitals haven’t enjoyed the start to their season like the Senators have as they’ve stumbled to a 1-5-1 start as they return home to the Verizon Center to host the also-struggling Philadelphia Flyers. The Flyers have struggled scoring all year for the Flyers who are 24th in the league scoring just 2.0 goals per game. The Capitals are only one spot better in goals per game ranking 23rd with 2.2 goals per game. Their defense has been a mess too, but they did get a win in their last home game. This looks to me like a team coming home desperate for a win, so I’ll take Washington, but not with much confidence. Confidence Meter: 3

7:10- Miami Heat: The Heat head to Indiana looking to avenge their loss earlier this season to the Pacers. In fact, Indiana has won two in a row in the regular season over the defending champs and are an impressive 17-3 at home on the season. Indiana would love to have more home games having lost three of their last four before getting a win when they hosted Detroit on Tuesday. Despite their impressive home record, the Pacers are 2.5 point home underdogs probably mostly due to the Heat starting to round back into championship form having won five of their last six including wins on the road at Golden State, Los Angeles (over the Lakers, and Brooklyn. The key for Miami will be getting scoring from anyone outside the big three since last time the teams met anyone not named Bosh, Wade, or James shot 4-22 from the field. I definitely don’t think it’s a lock, but I do think the Heat will get the win on the road. Confidence Meter: 4

7:30- Tampa Bay Lightning: The Lightning are another NHL team off to a fast start with a 5-1-0 record. They host the Winnipeg Jets tonight who have lost two in a row including a 6-3 loss last night to the Florida Panthers. The Lightning have been piling on goals averaging a league-best 4.83 per game led by Steven Stamkos who has a goal in each of his last three games and a point in every Lightning game this year. Look for Stamkos and the Lightning to strike again tonight as they take down the Jets. Confidence Meter: 7

9:00- Phoenix Suns: The Suns look to build on their best win of the season as they host the Dallas Mavericks tonight in Phoenix. Dallas played just last night in Oakland going down by three to the Warriors who were again without Stephen Curry. The loss dropped Dallas to 7-18 on the road, while the Suns come into this one with a decent 12-11 record at home. Phoenix is 3-2 under interim coach Lindsey Hunter after storming from behind to beat the Lakers on Wednesday. They’ve been getting great scoring from Michael Beasley who will look to power the Suns to another win tonight.  The Mavericks have taken the first two meetings in this series winning by 15 in Dallas and three in Phoenix earlier this season. I think the Suns will be able to get som revenge for those losses tonight as they take the court against a possibly tired Mavs team. Confidence Meter: 5

9:05- Detroit wins by Double Digits: The Detroit Titans are 11 point favorites at home as they host Youngstown State. They went on the road to Youngstown State and won by 41 and the Penguins have won four of five since. YSU will be looking for revenge, but Detroit is just too good of a scoring team to thing that they’ll be able to keep up. Detroit is pretty volatile and usually either wins by a lot or comes out flat and loses. After the earlier this season beatdown, I have to think they’ll take this one by at least ten. Confidence Meter: 7

10:00- Chicago Blackhawks: If you need a late pick, I’d go with the 6-0-1 Blackhawks as they go on the road to Vancouver where the Canucks are playing better after stumbling out of the gate a bit. Even with Vancouver at home and playing better, Chicago is a better pick since they’ll be looking to bounce back from their first loss of the season in a shootout in Minnesota on Wednesday. Chicago is in the top five in goals per game and least goals allowed while Vancouver isn’t in the top five in either. It should be a good game, but I’ll go with the team that’s looked better overall so far this season. Confidence Meter: 4
