ESPN Streak for the Cash Picks and Analysis, February 4

The Iowa State Cyclones are a good pick tonight in Streak for the Cash from ESPN. Korie Lucious (13) and Georges Niang (31) welcome the Oklahoma Sooners to Ames, Iowa in tonight’s Big 12 matchup. Mandatory Credit: Alonzo J. Adams-USA TODAY Sports

As we shake off the effects of the post-Super Bowl blues (and possibly hangover), its time to get back to ESPN Streak for the Cash with a solid slate of 16 picks coming into today. Things kick off with some international soccer followed by the usual evening-full of College hoops, NBA, and NHL. Here’s the picks I like the most today:

Streak Picks for 2/4

12:30- Giannina win/draw: If you’re in the red from last night’s big game, your first chance to get back in the green is from the Greek Super League. Levadiakos is 8-3-8 as they host Giannina who are 7-5-7. Levadiakos is at home team where they are 4-2-3 while Giannina comes in with a 3-2-4 road record. When the two teams met earlier this season Giannina won 1-0 at home and I think they’ll be able to get at least a draw as they head to Livadeia to take on the Greens. Confidence Meter: 3

3:00- Pacos de FerreiraIf you prefer Portuguese Liga action or miss on the early soccer pick, this second option is another option to get into the green before tonight’s action. In this one Pacos de Ferreira is giving the draw as the host Estroril. Ferreira is 7-7-2 overall and 3-3-1 at home. Estoril is 5-4-7 and a 2-2-3 away record. As you can see draws are fairly common for both these teams so giving the draw isn’t something to pick lightly. Ferreira has won four of their last five with their only loss coming at the always-dominant FC Porto. These two teams played to a draw at Estoril earlier this season, but at home and in current form I think Ferrira is the better pick. Confidence Meter: 4

Jan 26, 2013; Philadelphia, PA, USA; Villanova Wildcats forward JayVaughn Pinkston (22) is called for a blocking foul as Syracuse Orange guard Michael Carter-Williams (1) goes up for a shot during the second half at the Wells Fargo Center. Villanova defeated Syracuse 75-71 during overtime. Mandatory Credit: Howard Smith-USA TODAY Sports

7:02- Michael Carter-Willians + Brandon Triche: The two duos matched up in this prop both average virtually the same amount of points per game. MCW and Triche average 27.5 while Jack Cooley and Jerian Grant from Notre Dame average 27.6. Since Syracuse is at home and I think they’ll win, I’ll go with the Orange pair. Confidence Meter: 3

7:04- Iowa State Winning Margin: The Cylcones are favored at home by 5 1/2 as they host the Oklahoma Sooners. Oklahoma averages just 4.6 threes per game this year. The Cyclones have been great at home winning at 12 in Ames. They’ve beaten the Baylor Bears and the K-State Wildcats their last two home games, and I think both those teams are better than OU. The Sooners did beat Baylor on the road in their last game but have dropped two games to K-State including their last one at home on Saturday. This should be a close game, but I think ISU will pull away and win by 6-10. This will be a close one either way and could come down to the last shot as so many Streak props do. Confidence Meter: 6

7:05- LA Clippers: The Clippers head to Washington to take on the Wizards. They’re playing in their second game in as many nights but are still favored by 3.5. Washington has  lost four in a row but did beat Oklahoma City and Chicago as part of winning five of their last six home games. The Clippers have lost their last two at Toronto and Boston and are just 2-6 in their last eight. I can’t pick the Wizards to beat the Clippers, but I don’t feel great about LA either. Confidence Meter: 4

8:05- Portland Trail Blazers: It’s hard to be confident in the Blazers on the road where they’re just 7-15, but as they head ton Minnesota I think they’ll get the win. The Timberwolves won Saturday to break a six game losing streak but still have just two wins in their last of their last 13. The Blazers have won the first two meetings between these two teams including a 102-97 win in Minnesota on January 5. Confidence Meter: 5

9:05- Texas three-pointers made or tie: The Longhorns go to Morgantown to take on the West Virginia Mountaineers where they come in as five point underdogs. Texas is 2-6 in conference but have played within 10 of West Virginia, Kansas, and Baylor. I think they’ll keep this one close as well coming off a win over TCU. West Virginia is 3-5 in conference play and coming off a road win of their own over Texas Tech. WVU won in overtime in Austin in the first meeting and I think this one will be close so I’ll take the points and the Longhorns. Confidence Meter: 3

9:05- Phoenix Coyotes: The Minnesota Wild head to the desert to take on the Coyotes still looking for their first road win. The Wild lost in Anaheim on Friday 3-1 and take on a hot goalie as they take on Mike Smith who just got his first shutout of the season on Saturday in a 2-0 win at home over Dallas. Phoenix is 3-2-1 at home and should be able to continue their run of getting points in their last four as they host the Wild. Confidence Meter: 5

10:05- San Jose Sharks: The Sharks take on the Ducks in a matchup of two teams playing very well out west. The Sharks are 7-0-1 after losing in a shootout to Nashville on Saturday as they head to Anaheim to take on the 5-1-1 Ducks who have lost just twice all year-once to the Sharks. San Jose’s shootout win at home last Tuesday sets things up for a nice rematch tonight in Anaheim. This game could really go either way, but the Ducks struggled a bit in their last game against LA and may have lost defenseman Cam Fowler for this game. I’ll take the Sharks to close out a tough day of picks where so many could really go either way. Confidence Meter: 4
