ESPN Streak for the Cash Picks and Analysis, February 8

In today’s Streak for the Cash picks, The Utah Jazz and Al Jefferson (25) take on the visiting Chicago Bulls. At home, the Jazz make a good pick against a Bulls team that got run out of Denver by the Nuggets last night. Mandatory Credit: Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

It’s a fully stocked Friday board today in ESPN’s Streak for the Cash with options from the PGA AT&T National Pro-Am in Pebble Beach, French soccer, college lacrosse, college basketball, the NBA, and the NHL. There’s some nice picks today and tonight so hopefully we can get the weekend rolling in the green.

Streak Picks for 2/8

Mar 31, 2012; Humble, TX, USA; Tommy Gainey plays his tee shot on the fourth hole during the third round of the Shell Houston Open at Redstone Golf Club-The Tournament Course. Mandatory Credit: Allan Henry-USA TODAY Sports

11:11- Tommy Gainey or tie: This nine-hole prop featured Tommy “Two-Gloves” against Jim Furyk on the front nine. Yesterday on a different course, Spyglass Hill, Gainey shot a -1 while Furyk was +3. Neither has had any top-flight finishes yet this year, but Gainey’s been playing more and is in better form. Getting the tie makes him a pretty easy pick since the only thing Furyk has going in this prop in name recognition. Confidence Meter: 5

5:05- Johns Hopkins win by 7+: Hopkins is expected to be one of the best teams in the nation once again this year and has a high-powered offense that can cover this number fairly easily against Siena who is solid but lost some key players from last season and doesn’t play this level of competition very often. It’s a tune-up game, but Johns Hopkins is a powerhouse so I think they’ll get the win by 7+. Confidence Meter: 3

February 6, 2013; Washington, DC, USA; Washington Wizards point guard John Wall (2) gestures on the court against the New York Knicks in the fourth quarter at Verizon Center. The Wizards won 106-96. Mandatory Credit: Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

7:00- Washington Wizards: The Wizards are starting to show signs of life especially at home as they welcome in the Nets tonight to the Verizon Center. Washington has won their last two games both at home over the Knicks and Clippers while the Nets have been inconsistent alternating wins and losses over their last five games. The Nets needed double-overtime to beat the Wiz in Washington earlier this season. Brooklyn is favored by one, but with John Wall back the Wizards are decent winning seven of their last eight at home and are 8-7 since Wall came back. It will be a Streak upset (with 97% of people on the Nets) but I like Washington to get the win here. Confidence Meter: 5

7:00- UNC-Asheville Bulldogs: The Bulldogs are favored by four as they take on the Keydets of VMI. Asheville is 8-2 in teh Big South and have won their last six in a row including a pair of road games. They played some tough competition in their non-conference schedule so their record is a bit worse than it would be if they played VMI’s schedule. The Keydets have won their last two but got blown out in their last home game by Gardner-Webb. This should be a good, close game but UNCA is the better team and I think they can get the win on the road. Confidence Meter: 4

8:00- Golden State Warriors: The Warriors head to Memphis trying to figure out their defense. In their last two games they’ve given up 140 in Houston and 119 in Oklahoma City. The Grizzlies are known for their defense but have stumbled since trading away Rudy Gay. Memphis won the two earlier meetings between these teams, but they’ve lost three of their last four and are suddenly uninspiring on both ends of the floor. Golden State is getting healthy and I think they’ll make noise in the playoffs so I’ll take them to get a tough road win here even though they’re three point underdogs. Confidence Meter: 3

8:30- Anaheim Ducks: The Ducks are flying high  at 7-1-1 and are 4-0-0 when rookie Viktor Fasth is in the net. Fasth has a 0.98 GAA as Anaheim heads to Dallas to take on the Stars. Dallas is 2-1-1 at home but has only won one of their last four in regulation. Dallas is good in overtime, but Anaheim has won four in a row all in regulation including wins over Minnesota, LA, San Jose, and Colorado. Confidence Meter: 6

9:05- Loyola (MD) by 15+: Siena comes into Baltimore to take on Loyola (MD). Loyola is favored by 12.5 and have won  eight of their 12 conference games. Siena has been pretty bad on the road losing three of their last four all by 19 or more. Loyola should be able to win this one easily but covering could be tricky. 15 points is a lot especially when the Greyhounds haven’t won any of their last eight by that many. I’ll go with them to get it though since they are coming off a huge win over the top team in the MAAC Niagara on the road in double overtime. Confidence Meter: 4

10:30- Utah Jazz: The Bulls played and lost last night in Denver and tonight travel to Salt Lake City to take on the Jazz. The Jazz are 19-5 at home and favored by four. Utah has won four of five all of which have been at home over New Orleans, Portland, Sacramento, and Milwaukee. The Bulls looked tired last night and in their second game in as many nights I don’t think they’ll be able to knock off the Jazz in their own building. Confidence Meter: 7
