Tuesday continues rivalry week in college basketball with some solid picks in ESPN’s Streak for the Cash. There’s soccer this morning and plenty of NHL action to go with the college and pro basketball options, so let’s get right to the picks for today:

Streak Picks for 2/12

11:00- Free State Stars win: The Free State Stars are slight favorites at home giving the draw to Chippa United. The Stars are 5-7-3 in South African Premiership play while Chiappa is just 2-7-6. The Stars have won two of their last three outright and beat Chippa on the road earlier this season. Confidence Meter: (out of 10)

2:45- PSG Win or Draw: In this UEFA knockout round matchup, PSG getting the draw is -175 which is steep odds for a Streak pick. PSG has been dominating Ligue won and have won four Champions League matches in a row against steep competition. They’re looking to make a name for themselves and getting a win at Valencia who normally dominates at home would be a great step in that direction. Be careful though, Valencia is really good at home. Confidence Meter: 6

7:03- Florida wins by Double Digits: The Gators host the Kentucky Wildcats in a solid game between the two teams many think represent the best in the SEC. Florida has been incredibly efficient at home and are favored in this one by 9 1/2. In their 12 home games, no one has been able to stay within 14 including then-#17 Mizzou and then-#16 Ole Miss. The Gators dropped a tough one last week at Arkansas, but they bounced back to win big over Mississippi State on Saturday. Kentucky is better than MSU but they have dropped three games on the road at Alabama, Louisville and Notre Dame. These are the top two teams in the standings, and if it was at Kentucky I think it would be close. However, the Gators are just so good at home, I think they’ll run away with this one.   Confidence Meter: 6

7:04- Rutgers: The Scarlet Knights are 4 1/2 point favorites as they host the Seton Hall Pirates in tonight’s Big East game. They’ve dropped six in a row but the last three have all been against ranked opponents and they stayed within six of Georgetown their last time out. Seton Hall has fared even worse in conference play losing their last five in a row and nine of their last ten. They beat DePaul on the road but haven’t done well since. I’ll take Rutgers at home but neither team inspires much confidence. It will probably be a close, hard-fought game, but the basketball level won’t be like the Florida-Kentucky game. I’m more confident in Rutgers since they only have to win straight-up while Florida may win but not cover.   Confidence Meter: 7

7:05- Denver Nuggets: The Nuggets look to get back in the win column after their nine-game winning streak was snapped in triple overtime by the Celtics. The Nuggets have dominated their recent series with the Raptors taking 15 of the last 17 matchups including one earlier this season. Toronto is starting to play better with the addition of Rudy Gay, but I don’t think they have the offense to run with the Nuggets. Toronto’s a good pick against the lower-tier teams in the League especially at home, but I think the Nuggets are one of the best in the West and should be able to et the win in this one as they play the front half of this back-to-back that concludes tomorrow night in Brooklyn. Confidence Meter: 6

7:35- Ottawa Senators: The Sens and Sabres face off in Ottawa tonight. The Senators won last Tuesday’s matchup 4-3 which also took place at the Scotiabank Place just like tonight’s will. The Sabres have struggled going just 1-3-1 in their last five but their one win was over Buffalo who have slid to last in the Northeast Division thanks mostly to a defense that ranks second-to-last in goals against. Buffalo did get a couple wins since playing Ottawa but fell to Boston on Sunday. I’ll take Ottawa, but these intra-divisional teams know each other so well the results can be a bit unpredictable. Confidence Meter: 3.5

Feb 9, 2013; Ottawa, ON, CAN; Ottawa Senators centre Mika Zibanejad (93) and right wing Daniel Alfredsson (11) check for the rebound following a shot on Winnipeg Jets goalie Al Montoya (35) in the third period at Scotiabank Place. 8:05- Winnipeg Jets: The Philadelphia Flyers continue their road trip north of the border as they head to Winnipeg to take on the Jets tonight after losing 5-2 in Toronto last night. Phily had started to turn things around a bit but are still just 1-6-0 on the road while Winnipeg is 3-2-0 at home. The Jets are coming off a nice 1-0 road win last Saturday at Ottawa so should be more well-rested than the Flyers who played just last night. Winnipeg has won two of their last three, and at home I think they can get the win over the still-struggling to score Flyers. Confidence Meter: 4

8:05- Nashville Predators: Nashville hosts San Jose tonight, but don’t just go with conventional wisdom (and 90% of streakers) and go with the Sharks. The Sharks have lost five straight after a 7-0-0 start and lost last night to Columbus 6-2. Nashville was playing very well during an earlier four-game winning streak but lost their last two. The Preds have a fierce defense and a hot goalie, but have struggled to score. The Sharks are almost the exact opposite with a prolific offense but a defense that’s given up 5+ goals in two of their last three. Nashville beat San Jose one time already this season in San Jose in a shootout. If possible I’d stay away, but if forced to choose I’d take the defensive team on home ice especially given the Sharks recent struggles. Confidence Meter: 3

9:07- Georgia Bulldogs: Don’t let the record fool you, Georgia is no pushover and are actually favored in this home game for them by 1 1/2 over visiting Alabama. The Bulldogs have won their last five including a pair of victories over Texas A&M. The Tide, meanwhile, has lost three of their five road games including their last game where they scored just 37 while losing at Auburn who Georgia had just beaten by eight. Auburn’s only win in their last eight games was over ‘Bama who are just 3-5 on the road all year. I think Georgia can pull this out behind Kentavious Caldwell-Pope who leads the Bulldogs in scoring and rebounding from his guard position and has scored double-digits in every game he’s played this year and has 20 or more in three of his last five. Confidence Meter: 5

9:35- Dallas Stars: The Stars top line has come together now that Jamie Benn has re-acclimated to the league and Dallas is looking for their fourth straight win as they travel to Edmonton. The Oilers got a win in their last game over Columbus ending their five-game losing streak but even in that one they were outshot 40-14. The Stars are playing better so I’ll take them even on the road. Confidence Meter: 6
