The tournaments of March tipped off yesterday with the unpredictability and excitement that characterizes the month already in full force. While it makes getting all the right picks tricky, the madness of March definitely brings with it some serious entertainment value and is sure to continue with a full board of picks today. Saturday’s options include picks from the EPL, MLS, NHL, and NBA, but most of the heavy lifting is done by a crazily crowded College Basketball schedule featuring some great matchups as regular seasons wrapup and the early conference tournaments continue. Here’s the picks I’m watching closest today:

3/9 Streak Picks

10:00- Swansea City Win or Draw: The Swans have won their last two matches outright and have earned at least a draw in nine of their last 11 EPL games. Today they’ll travel to The Hawthornes to take on West Brom who is level with them with 40 points in the table. Both teams have had generally successful seasons, but West Brom has only won one of their last four home games outright. Swansea won 3-1 at home earlier this EPL season and I think they’re the right pick to earn at least a draw in this one. Confidence Meter: (out of 10)

12:03- Georgetown Hoyas: Georgetown and Syracuse meet for the last time as Big East rivals in the Verizon Center tonight and the Hoyas come in as 1 1/2 point favorites. This is a huge game for both teams as Georgetown can wrap up the Big East regular season title with a win and Syracuse can avenge their earlier loss at home to Georgetown. That win was part of the Hoyas 11 game winning streak which ende at Villanova earlier this week. This one definitely goes in the “fun to watch but no fun to pick” category, but if I had to choose I’d go with the Hoyas at home over the Orange who they already beat. Confidence Meter: 3

12:04- Mercer Bears: The Bears the the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles face off for the Atlantic Sun Men’s Championship this afternoon which comes with a ticket to the big dance. The two teams split a pair of close games this season with each winning their home game and losing on the road. The loss at FGCU was the only one for Mercer in their last 12 games, but Gulf Coast has won 11 of their last 13 as well.  This should be a good, close game but since Mercer is the top seed and the tournament host, I think they’ll get the win. Confidence Meter: 4

12:05- Florida Winning Margin: The Gators face the Wildcats as both wrap up their SEC schedules. Florida beat UK by 17 in Gainesville earlier this year in the game where Nerlens Noel was lost by the Wildcats for the season. Since then, Kentucky is 3-3 winning three games at home and losing three on the road. In a virtual must-win in they hope to make the field of 68, they’ll face the Gators who already has wrapped up the regular season title in the SEC. Florida is favored by six but in all of Florida’s road games, they don’t win close. They either blow the doors off their opponent, or they lose. I think the Gators win this by 8-10 and UK averages under six three’s per game. Confidence Meter: 5

1:00- Washington Capitals: The Capitals have won eight of their last 11 including sins over Florida and Boston earlier this week. The Islanders lost to their cross-town rivals the Rangers in overtime and are just 4-8-2 at home this season. The Islanders are 2-0-2 in their last four games, but the Caps are playing too well to pick against at this point especially when you add in the fact that Islanders goaltender Evgeni Napakov has allowed seven goals in his last two losses to the Caps. Confidence Meter: 6

1:45- 68 or Fewer: Tiger shot a 65 and a 66 so far this week and is rolling especially with his putter. He usually doesn’t light it up for four rounds in a row, but a 68 or 67 seems like his most likely score today. This will lock your entry for most of the day, so make sure you know you’ll possibly miss the rest of the pre-7:00 picks. Confidence Meter: 3

2:00- Arkansas wins by Double Digits: The Razorbacks host the Aggies and since the game is in Fayetteville, I think they’ll win by more than 10. Vegas currently has them as 8 1/2 point favorites. It seems crazy to take a team that lost by 30 in their last game to win by 10 but Arkansas is such a different team at home. In their last home game they beat UK by 13, so they should be able to avenge their early-season loss to the Aggies even though they lost by 18. The Aggies have lost three of their last four overall and three of their last four on the road. They’ve been close in some of those games, but the Hogs are an impressive 16-1 at home and will be out to send off their Seniors in style in their last home game of the season. Confidence Meter: 4

2:00- Florida State 3-Pointers Made of Tie: The ‘Noles got a big home win their last time out over Virginia and have actually won their last three in Tallahassee. They were within 10 against Miami and UNC at home too and were really only blown out at home by Duke. NC State hasn’t been blowing many teams out on the road although the did in their last game on the road against lowly Georgia Tech. Before that they has lost five of six road games with their win coming by just a point at Clemson. The Seminoles average just under 6 three-pointers a game and are only four-point underdogs at home. The Wolfpack have the firepower to put this one out of reach, but they haven’t done that this season very often on the road. On the flip-side, only Duke has been able to romp in Tallahassee so don’t expect the Seminoles to go quietly in their final game of the season. Confidence Meter: 6

March 4, 2013; Louisville, KY, USA; Louisville Cardinals guard Kevin Ware (5) dunks against the Cincinnati Bearcats during the second half at the KFC Yum! Center. Louisville defeated Cincinnati 67-51. Mandatory Credit: Jamie Rhodes-USA TODAY Sports

4:00- Louisville winning margin: The Cardinals host the Irish who beat them in South Bend in five overtimes back on February 9. Since then, Louisville hasn’t lost including three blowout home wins and a nice road win at Syracuse. Tonight the Cardinals are favored by 12 and I think they’ll cover that spread and the Irish FT Made especially since Notre Dame has had trouble on the road winning just one of their last four road games and getting beat by substantial margins at Providence and Syracuse. Confidence Meter: 6

4:00- St. Louis Blues: The Blues are 7-4-1 on the road as they head to San Jose to face the Sharks. Their new-look front line powered them to a 6-3 win in Phoenix on Thursday, and they’ll look to tame the Sharks and avenge their loss in St. Louis earlier this season. The Sharks have struggled to score recently and have won just four of their last 11 games. It’s the Sharks strong defense against the Blues potent offense in this one which should e a good game overall. Due to their recent momentum gaines in their last matchup and the Sharks struggles on offense, I’ll go with the Blues on the road to get the green. Confidence Meter: 4
