Streak for the Cash Picks, April 13 Preview and Analysis

Saturday’s Streak for the Cash options include plenty of picks from Augusta, as Tiger Woods and the rest of the field chase the first Major of the season. Find my picks for those props and the rest of today’s action right here. Mandatory Credit: Michael Madrid-USA TODAY Sports

Saturday of the Masters is always an exciting one to watch as contenders emerge for this year’s green jacket. Streak for the Cash makes things even more compelling with a slew of golf props joining the usual NHL, MLB, and NBA picks. The other unusual pick is the Championship Game of the Frozen Four which happens tonight in Pittsburgh. Here’s my pick for that game and the rest of today’s Streak action:

4/13 Streak Picks

10:00- West Ham United win or draw:The Hammers are coming off a road draw in Liverpool as the head to Southampton in the first streak pick of the day. They’ve earned at least a draw in three of their last four EPL Matches and defeated Southampton 4-1 in West Ham earlier this season. Southampton has changed styles and managers since then, but I still think West Ham can get a result especially with Andy Carroll available at striker. Confidence Meter: (out of 10)

12:21- Par: Bubba has a par and a birdie on 12 this week. He was won of only nine to get a -1 here yesterday with 25 bogeys and 55 pars. Last year he made par in two of his four rounds with a birdie in round one and a bogey in round four. I think they most likely outcome is par but it depends on pin placement and how the hole is playing. Confidence Meter: 3

1:05- Boston Red Sox: Jon Lester takes the hill for the Sox after a day off yesterday provided by inclement weather. He’ll face AL Cy Young winner David Price in what is presumed is a good pitchers duel. However, rice will have to improve his recent pitching to make that happen since he’s started the year with a pair of rough starts resulting in a 0-1 record with an 8.18 ERA. Lester , on the other hand, has looked back to his -pre-2012 dominant self and should be able to get the Sox a win in his first start of the year at Fenway. Confidence Meter: 5

1:43- Par: This prop is for Tianlang Guan’s score on the 15th where he’s made pars in both of his first two rounds. After making the cut, the eighth-grader gets two more rounds at Augusta, and I think he’s proven he can make par on this hole and isn’t going to be overwhelmed by the moment. Confidence Meter: 4

1:45- 3 Birdies or Less: Woods is playing well and is three shots off the lead as he comes into today’s round with a prop for birdies made. He’s only made three in each of the first two rounds this year and made three, two, two, and three in his four rounds last year. He hasn’t had more than three since round four 0r 2011. He’ll be ready for “moving day” and be able to hang around the leaderboard, but I don’t see many low numbers today, and Tiger’s birdie count will reflect that. Confidence Meter: 4 1/2

3:00- Buffalo Sabres: The Flyers coach said they needed an epic run and he was right, but his team seems to have misunderstood and have been epically bad in their three-game losing streak where they’ve lost by a total of 11-3. Today, they take on the team just ahead of them as they travel to Buffalo where the Sabres have also ben struggling to score but  will look to take the win and the season series which currently is even at 1-1. Phily comes in at just 5-14-1 on the road this season and seem to be in full fade-out mode, so I think Buffalo can get the win at home where they’re 8-8-3 on the year. Confidence Meter: 5

3:16-Par: This is a prop for Rickie Fowler’s 12th hole. See Bubba Watson above for more info on how the hole has played and make sure to check how it is playing today before locking this pick in. Again though, I think par is the most likely outcome.  Confidence Meter: 3

4:05- Detroit Tigers: The A’s have won nine in a row, but to get to ten they’ll have to go through Justin Verlander. Verlander has dominated Oakland and has a 0.49 ERA and a 5-0 record in his last five starts against the A’s. He’ll be opposed by Brett Anderson who is also off to a solid start and has pitched well against Detroit. This seems like a tense, well-played game which should be low-scoring. That would seem to be Verlander’s kind of game and I think he’ll hat the streak this afternoon. Confidence Meter: 6

Apr 8, 2013; Philadelphia, PA, USA; New York Mets pitcher Matt Harvey (33) delivers to the plate during the first inning against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park. Mandatory Credit: Howard Smith-USA TODAY Sports

4:10- New York Mets: The Mets thrashed the Twins yesterday winning 16-5 and now get to send Matt Harvey, their best pitcher so far this season, to the mound for game of their interleague set with Minnesota. Harvey is 2-0 with a 0.64 ERA as he faces the Twins who have dropped four in a row and will turn to Scott Diamond fresh off the DL making his first start of the season. Confidence Meter: 7

4:45- 8 Strokes or More: Tiger has played these two holes at 8 or more in four of his last six rounds at Augusta with round one being the most recent under-par trip through 12 and 13. I think overall, scores will be higher so I’ll take him to go par-par or worse rather than gain a stroke in these two holes. Confidence Meter: 3

6:15- 9 Strokes or Fewer: This prop is for the total score of Jason Day and Fred Couples on the Par 5 15th. The first two days Couples has made par each time while Day had the lone birdie of the two in round one. I think one of them gets one today and both are on my Best Ball Challenge roster for the day aw well. Confidence Meter: 4

7:00- Toronto Maple Leafs: The Leafs host Montreal as the two Canadian playoff-teams (most likely) continue their push to the finish. The Canadiens have clinched a trip to the postseason and won the most recent matchup between these two teams even though it was in Toronto. Earlier this year, the Leafs beat Montreal twice including a 6-0 dismantling in Montreal. It should be a great hockey game between two teams playing well as the Habs have won six of their last eight while Toronto has won five of it’s last seven and only lost to the Rangers in New York by a shootout. It’s possoble this game comes to that, but I think there will be goals scored based on the free-flowing nature of their earlier meetings. This is a really tough game to pick although it looks to be a great one to watch. Confidence Meter: 2

7:05- Quinnipiac: The Championship Game of the Frozen Four features to Connecticut schools as the top-seeded Quinnipiac Bobcats take on Yale. Yale has pulled several dramatic upsets to get to this point, but they’ve already lost to Quinnipiac three times this season all by at least three goals. The Bulldogs should be able to keep this one closer, but ultimately I think they fall short as Quinnipiac gets the win. Confidence Meter: 7

7:10- Kansas City Royals: The Royals send their ace, James Shields, to the mound against R.A. Dickey and the Blue Jays tonight. Toronto will be playing their first game without Jose Reyes who suffered an injury last night and they’ll need a great game from Dickey if they expect to beat Shields. He’s dominated them in the recent past going 5-0 with a 0.94 ERA and dominating their big-time bats. It’ll be Shields first start at Kauffman Stadium as a member of the home-town team, and he should be ready and primed to perform as Dickey’s AL struggles continue. Confidence Meter: 5

7:47- FC Dallas win: Despite being 2-2-0 LA gets the draw as they go to Dallas, but I still think they’re not the pick. Dallas is 4-1-1 so far this MLS season going 3-0-0 at home with a 6-2 advantage in scoring. LA has gotten a draw in their only away game getting a 2-2 draw in Toronto. I’d still lean toward the Galaxy if that was all the relevant info, but don’t forget that the Galaxy have played a pair of CONCACAF Champions League games in the past couple weeks losing both including a loss just two days ago in Monterrey, Mexico. LA does have Landon Donovan back but he still needs to work his way back to full fitness and integration. Confidence Meter: 4

8:40- Colorado Rockies: Just five days ago, the Rockies rolled over the Padres 9-1 as Jhoulys Chacin defeated Edinson Volquez. Chacin made a nice pickup as a spot starter then as he does again tonight in the pitcher friendly environs of Petco, click here for more. Volquez has struggled this season, but typically does better at home, but I like the way the Rockies are playing and ampretty confident they get the win in this one. Confidence Meter: 6

11:00- LA Kings: In what should be another great hockey game, the Kings and Ducks skate in a matchup of the top two teams in the Pacific division. The Kings are 6-2-2 in their last ten while the Ducks are 5-2-1 in their last eight. The two teams needed a shootout on Sunday in Anaheim and the Ducks emerged victorious. Tonight since the games at the Staples Center, I think LA returns the favor and gets a win at home where their 15-4-1 on the season. Confidence Meter: 4
