Streak For The Cash Picks, April 30 Previews And Analysis

It’s the final day of April and the first day of the NHL Playoffs on ESPN’s Streak for the Cash. The NHL Picks are joined by options from the continuing NBA Playoffs, Major League Baseball, and some international soccer picks. Here’s they way I’m going on this light, month-ending board.

Streak Picks-4/30

2:45- Real Madrid win: Borussia Dortmund won 4-1 in their home leg in this UEFA Champions League semifinal. Dortmund can still advance with a one or two goal loss, and Madrid has the firepower to score especially at home where they haven’t been held goalless in their last 17 matches overall and their last 33 matches  at home in all competitions. Madrid should be able to score and win, but I think Borussia Dortmund moves on. Confidence Meter: (out of 10)

7:05- Philadelphia Phillies: The Phillies visit Cleveland in a bizarre two-game interleague series. They’ll send Roy Halladay to the hill tonight as they look to win their fourth game in a row. Halladay was horrible to start the year but has been much better lately going 2-0 with a 1.71 ERA in his last three starts. He’ll be opposed by Zach McAllister who is 1-3 with a 3.52 ERA. The Tribe have won their last two behind a heating up Asdrubal Cabrera, but I’ll take a resurgent Halladay to get the green tonight. Confidence Meter: 5

7:07- Boston Red Sox: The Red Sox head to Toronto with a surprising 18-7 record while the Jays have an equally surprising record for all the wrong reasons  as they come in 9-17. In an appropriately-opposite starting pitching matchup, Jon Lester (4-0, 2.27 ERA) takes on Brandon Morrow (0-2, 5.27 ERA). The Blue Jays come in having lost six of the seven games on their last road trip as they host Boston who just swept four from Houson and have won six of their last seven. Nothing can guarantee that all these trends won’t reverse tonight, but I think the Sox get the win over Brandon Morrow who they typically demolish. Confidence Meter: 7

8:05- Los Angeles Kings: The Defending NHL Champs open on the road in St. Louis having beaten the Blues in each of their last eight meetings including a series sweep this season and in last year’s playoffs. The Blues have been playing well lately winning 12 of 15, but I think the Kings take game one in St. Louis as they start their title defense. Confidence Meter: 4

8:05- Blackhawks win by 2+ Goals: The Blackhawks are the favorites to win the Stanley Cup as they host Minnesota after dominating the regular season and earning the top spot in the Western Conference. Giving a goal in hockey doesn’t bother me as much with empty-netters coming at the end of many games. It does, however, mean an overtime win won’t get you green if you take Chicago. The Blackhawks finished the season strong and I think they’ll get the win in their series opener at home at the United Center tonight. Confidence Meter: 5

8:10- Warriors 3-Pointers Made: The Warriors have been incredibly good throughout this series, and even though I think Denver will win tonight I think the Warriors keep it close enough for this to cover. Confidence Meter: 3

8:11- Ty Lawson: Lawson can take over the game at any point although he often waits until the second half to do so. At home, I think he’ll be motivated to pour it on early and get some separation so I think he’ll win this first-half scoring prop against Klay Thompson. Confidence Meter: 5

9:30- 53 Points or More: In the four games before this the 3rd quarter totals are 63, 51, 62, and 43. I think tonight’s game will be extremely high-scoring like ame two was so I’ll take the over. Confidence Meter: 4
