Streak for the Cash Picks, May 3 Analysis and Previews

Friday’s another full day of Streak for the Cash options with golf props and soccer taking us up to a prop from the 139th Kentucky Oaks horse race. The evening slate has some solid options too from a nice blend of NBA Playoffs, NHL Playoffs, and a full night of Major League Baseball. Here’s the picks I like the most today:

5/3 Streak Picks

Apr 11, 2013; Augusta, GA, USA; Zach Johnson hits his tee shot on the 18th hole during the first round of the 2013 The Masters golf tournament at Augusta National Golf Club. Mandatory Credit: Jack Gruber-USA TODAY Sports

7:40- Zach Johnson or Tie: Lee Westwood faces Zach Johnson giving a tie in the early morning nine-hole prop today. Westwood was -1 on these holes yesterday and -2 overall while ZJ was-3 on these holes and -4 overall. The course would seem to be more tailored for Westwood than Johnson, and Westwood was in better form entering this week, but the round one results and the tie make Johnson the slightly better option in my opinion. Confidence Meter: (out of 10)

12:55- Webb Simpson: In the second PGA Tour prop, Simpson takes on Sergio Garcia giving the tie to the Spaniard who was even par on day one with four birdies, two bogeys, and a double. Simpson was a little better at -2 with 16 pars and a pair of birdies. I’m a big fan of Simpson’s consistency and he’s coming off a runner-up finish two weeks ago while Garcia hasn’t played since the Masters. It’s always tough to give the tie, but 18 holes makes it a bit easier and Simpson’s solid play makes him the pick for me. Confidence Meter: 4

2:30- Borussia Monchengladbach win or draw: In the Bundesliga, Schalke 04 currently sits fourth in the table with a 14-7-10 record as they visit Borussia Monchengladbach. Gladbach is 11-11-9 which is good enough for seventh in the table. Gladbach has been excellent at home, though, getting at least a draw in 13 of their 15 home games this season. They also earned a draw at Schalke 04 earlier this year so at home they should be able to get at least a point as they chase a spot in European play. Confidence Meter: 4

3:00- Athletic Bilbao win or draw: Bilboa is 10-7-16 but take on Celta Vigo at 8-6-19 who they beat 1-0 earlier this season. Bilboa is coming of a 2-2 tie against Barcelona and should be able to do at least as well against Celta Vigo today. Confidence Meter: 5

5:45- Dreaming of Julia or Midnight Lucky: These are two of the top three options in the race, and Dreaming of Julia is expected to be the favorite. The  “any other horse” side won almost everyone of these props last year, but I think one of these two will end up winning in this one. Confidence Meter: 3

Apr 29, 2013; Atlanta, GA, USA; Atlanta Hawks forward Josh Smith (5) reacts after he scored late in game four of the first round of the 2013 NBA playoffs at Philips Arena. Mandatory Credit: Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports

7:03- Atlanta Hawks: The Hawks and Pacers meet in game six in their first round series in which the home team has won every game. Atlanta looked bad in Indy in game five but played very well at home earlier this series. Indiana hasn’t won in their last 13 trips to Philips Arena and were only 19-21 on the road all year. Atlanta will look to extend the series and should be able to put up another strong effort and keep the home team unbeaten. They come in as 1 1/2 point favorites. Confidence Meter: 4

7:07- Knicks more players with made FG in 1st Half: While I think the Celtics win this game, the Celtics are playing with such a shortened rotation the Knicks will most likely win this SFTC user-generated prop. ‘Melo and JR Smith chuck up plenty of shots but the Knicks should have seven scorers while I’d be surprised if Boston has more than five. Confidence Meter: 5

7:08- Seattle Mariners: King Felix is on the mound as he faces on eof the few teams he’s struggled with in his career-3-4 with a 5.13 ERA. However, he’s been in great form lately going 2-0 with a 0.82 ERA in his last three starts. When he’s on there’s no one that can hit him which could be a struggle for Toronto who is coming off a pair of losses to Boston dropping them to 10-19 on the season. The Mariners are actually 13-17 and hitting better with offseason acquisition Michael Morse leading the charge. The Blue Jays will turn to Ricky Romero to stifle the Mariners’ onslaught but he will be making his first start in the Majors after getting left in the minors coming out of Spring Training. The Blue Jays need him to return to form, but facing King Felix his first game back is an extremely tough draw. The Mariners should continue their momentum while Toronto keeps sliding. Confidence Meter: 7

8:10- St. Louis Cardinals: The Cardinals and Shelby Miller head to Miller Park to take on their dvisision-rival Brewers as they face their former teammate Kyle Lohse. The Cardinals beat Lohse  earlier this year when these two starters squared off in St. Louis. The final of that game was 2-0 and I expect this one to be another well-pitched game. Lohse has pitched well but gotten lousy run support while Miller has been solid but is coming off a tough outing his last time out. I think he’ll bounce back and that the Cards get their fourth win in a row while extending the Brew-Crew’s losing streak to three. Confidence Meter: 3

8:40- Tampa Bay Rays: The Rays take a rare trip to Coors Field and take on the Rockies who are 9-3 at home so far this year as they’ve gotten off to a fast 17-11 start. Tampa has struggled on the road at just 4-11 but will sent their best starter, Matt Moore, to the mound tonight. Moore is 5-0 with a 1.13 ERA and has been dominant in all his starts. He’ll be opposed by Jeff Francis who has an ERA over seven and a 1-2 record. Since Moore has been so good, I think the Rays get a rare road win before losing the other two games in this series. Confidence Meter: 6

10:00- Vancouver Canucks: The Canucks are in a virtual must-win at home against San Jose after dropping game one. The Sharks just have to win at home to take the sereis and they were excellent this year at the HP Pavilion. The Canucks will need to rediscover their home form if they expect to advance and will need a better performance from their defense and goaletender. While I love the Sharks chances to move on to the second round, I do think Vancouver gets this win at home. Confidence Meter: 4

10:10- Arizona Diamondbacks: The D-Backs head to San Diego to take on the Padres as they try to figure out bullpen struggles that cost them all three of the games in their last series against the Giants. While Arizona has been losing games late, the Padres rallied for a late win over the Cubs in Wrigley in their series finale. The D-Backs have the apparent advantage in the starting pitching matchup as they send Wade Miley to the mound against the Padres’ Jason Marquis.  Miley is 2-0 with a 2.37 ERA while Marquis’s ERA is 4.20 although he is coming off one of his better outings of the year. The D-Backs bullpen concerns are real, but I think they’ll be able to rebound enough to get the win tonight at Petco. Confidence Meter: 5
