Streak For The Cash Picks, May 13 Analysis And Previews

In tonight’s Streak for the Cash options, the Miami Heat led by small forward LeBron James face the Chicago Bulls at the United Center in game four of the second round of the 2013 NBA Playoffs against the Chicago Bulls at the United Center. Mandatory Credit: Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports

Monday, May 13 is a big one in the NHL Playoffs with a pair of game seven’s in the Eastern Conference scheduled to face-off tonight. Before those games get started though, there are several Streak for the Cash picks on the board from international soccer and the Yankees-Indians double-header. Tonight, along with the hockey games, there are options from the two NBA Playoff games and Major League Baseball. Of the many options on the board, these are the ones I’m looking at possibly taking today:

5/13 Streak Picks

11:30-FC Lahti win or draw: You can start with this Finnish soccer matchup if your entry starts the day in the red like mine does. Lahti and HJK are both just starting league play, so its hard to get a accurate read on them. HJK is the defending champ and has started 3-2-0. Lahti is 1-2-1 so far this season, but were 12-1-3 at home last season and beat HJK 3-0 in their home matchup. This is a fairly even prop based on the odds, so stay away unless you’ve got nothing to lose. Confidence Meter: (out of 10)

12:05- Cleveland Indians: The Tribe send Justin Masterson to the hill in game one as they take on the Yankees in a pair of early games. Both teams are playing well with the Yankees having won five in a row and the Indians taking eight of their last nine. New York crushed Cleveland earlier this year, but Masterson has been solid for Cleveland this year coming in 5-2 with a 3.67 ERA. He’ll be opposed by David Phelps who is just 1-1 with a 5.02 ERA. It’s hard to pick against the Yankees right now, but Cleveland has been raking at home and I think they’ll get the win in game one. Confidence Meter: 5

2:45- Brighton & Hove Albion win: This is the second leg of the Semifinals of the English League Championship Playoffs  as Crystal Palace takes on Brighton & Hove Albion as both teams try to play their way into the Premier League. The teams have played three times this season with both teams winning at home 3-0 in regular season play and then playing to a scoreless draw in the first leg. Brighton improved in that match while Crystal Palace lost their primary offensive weapon Glen Murray. He was stretchered off and won’t play in the second leg making Brighton the more potent offensive team and since they’re at home I think they’ll get the win although I don’t think it will be the three-goal margin they enjoyed earlier this season. Confidence Meter: 4

4:00- Real Sociedad wins by 2+: Sociedad hosts Grenada and even giving the goal I’ll take the home team in this one. Sociedad has won each of their last three by home matches in Primera play by multiple goals. Granada has gone 2-1-0 in their last three but lost the two games prior to that 5-0 to Atletico Madrid and 5-1 to Real Betis. Betis is behind Sociedad in the current table, so I think Sociedad will get the multiple-goal win in this one based on their current form. Confidence Meter: 3

7:05- Pittsburgh Pirates: If you’re looking to avoid the hockey options, the Pirates are a solid early-window pick. The pitching matchup is AJ Burnett for the Bucs against Marco Estrada for the Brewers. Burnett has been solid at 3-3 with a 2.57 ERA while Estrada is just 2-2 with a 6.05 ERA. The teams are trending opposite directions with the Pirates winning their last three while Milwaukee has lost four in a row and nine of their last ten. Milwaukee did take two of three from Pittsburgh earlier this season, so it isn’t a lock, but I do think the Pirates are a good pick in this one. Confidence  Meter: 6

7:05- Boston Bruins: The Bruins are at home, but their offense has been less than confidence-inspring in the recent games against Toronto. They’ll look to avoid a collapse after being up 3-1, and I think they’ll squeak this one out behind a big game from Tuukka Rask. The home team has the advantage in game seven, but as Detroit reminded us last night-the road team can win too. Confidence Meter: 3

May 12, 2013; St. Louis, MO, USA; St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Joe Kelly (58) delivers a pitch against the Colorado Rockies at Busch Stadium. The Rockies defeated the Cardinals 8-2. Mandatory Credit: Scott Rovak-USA TODAY Sports

7:07- Cardinals win by 2+: The Mets and Cardinals play on ESPN tonight and St. Louis is heavily favored coming in at 23-13 overall and having won nine of their last 11. The Mets, on the other hand, lost their last three to Pittsburgh and have sunk to 14-20 on the season. The pitching matchup also heavily favors St. Louis, so giving the run isn’t too big a deal to me. Confidence Meter: 7

7:10- Heat Double-Digit win: The Bulls and Heat have played knockdown, drag-out games in the first three in this series with the Heat winning twice by double digits after the Bulls grabbed game one. Chicago’s run has been incredibly as under-manned as they are, but I don’t see them getting the win here and FT may push this out to double-digits as we saw in game three. Miami are eight-point favorites, and I think they’ll cover and win by about 12. I’ve been burned by counting the Bulls out before though, so I think the baseball picks are stronger options. Confidence Meter: 4

7:11- 50.1% or Higher: LeBron’s first half FG % is the user-submitted prop for the day. This definitely could go either way, but LeBron has been good in the first half so far in the playoffs. He’s shooting almost 60%, so I’ll take the over although if he’s of it can definitely be under. Confidence Meter: 3

8:05- Chicago Cubs: The Cub send Travis Wood to the hill as they open their series with the Rockies. Colorado comes into Wrigley fresh off snapping their four-game losing streak Sunday as they beat the Cardinals. The Cubs have actually been playing fairly well at home and have won four of their last six after taking two of three form the Nats. Wood is also performent well lately and comes in with a 2.33 ERA and a 3-2 record. Wood will be opposed by Juan Nicasio who comes in 3-0 with a 4.72 ERA. Nicasio has struggled going deep into games while Wood has been solid. Based on starting pitcher and current form, The Cubs are the pick even with their shaky bullpen. Confidence Meter: 4

9:40- Memphis Grizzlies: The Grizz are up 2-1 on the Thunder coming into game four just like they were two years ago. However, the Thunder don’t have Russell Westbrook and the Grizzlies have looked like the better team so far in the series. Memphis has been excellent at home at the FedEdForum all season and will look to take a commanding 3-1 lead as they face Durant and the Thunder tonight. Durant would need another super-human effort to get the win, but if Memphis plays well as a team I think they’ll get the W. Confidence Meter: 5

9:40- Arizona Diamondbacks: The Snakes are getting upder 10% of the picks as of now on Streak, but I think they should be the favorite at home in this matchup of teams in the middle of the playoff picture to this point in the season. Arizona is the home team in this one and send Wade Miley to the mound opposite Mike Minor. minor is 4-2 with a 2.96 ERA and won his last start at Cincinnati. Since that start the Braves lost three of four in San Frnacisco while Arizona lost two of three to Philadelphia. Both teams have been struggling offensively and have solid starters scheduled so I expect a low-scoring, competitive game with the hometown D-Backs beat Justin Upton in his return to the desert. Confidence Meter: 4

May 1, 2012; Atlanta, GA, USA; Washington Nationals starting pitcher Jordan Zimmermann (27) pitches in the second inning against the Atlanta Braves at Turner Field. Mandatory Credit: Daniel Shirey-USA TODAY Sports

10:10- Washington Nationals: The Nationals send Jordan Zimmermann to the mound as they take on the Dodger in the last pick of the day. it’s also one of the best, in my opinion, since Zimmermann has been incredible (6-1, 1.59) and the Dodgers have been struggling. They did win their last two games after losing eight in a row but those two wins were over the lowly Marlins. Tonight LA will look to Josh Beckett who comes in 0-4 with a 5.13 ERA. Zimmermann gives the Nats a clear advantage here as they look to get back in the win column after having their five-game winning streak snapped yesterday. Confidence Meter: 7
