As we pass the halfway point in the month, it’s time to get your entry going in Streak for the Cash if you plan on making a run towards the big money. It’s been a tricky month overall as evidenced by the longst streak still at just 17. The struggle has been because of some upsets, not because of lack of options. Today’s board has options from the PGA Tour, the IIHF World Championship hockey, and college baseball setting us up for another full night of MLB options as well as the ongoing NHL and NBA Playoffs. Yesterday’s picks were a little shaky and I didn’t have much confidence in them, hopefully today’s options fare better. Here’s the picks I’ll be watching today:

5/16 Streak Picks

May 11, 2013; Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, USA; Jason Dufner chips onto the 3rd green in the third round of The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass – Stadium Course. Mandatory Credit: Debby Wong-USA TODAY Sports

8:40- Jason Dufner: In this nine-hole opening prop, Dufner faces Kegan Bradley giving the tie. Bradley is coming off consecutive missed cuts at THE PLAYERS and the Zurich Classic after a strong early part of the season. Dufner has been struggling putting and has yet to finish in the top ten this year. He finished last week with a final round 80, but he is the defending champ here and if there’s a course he can turn it around on the TPC Four Seasons could be the one. Confidence Meter: (out of 10)

11:30- Finland wins by 2+ Goals: Finland takes on Slovakia as the heavy favorites in this quarterfinal. The IIHF Championships are  being held in Sweden and Finland and this match will be a home game for the Finns as they play in Helsinki. They beat Slovakia 2-0 in their last head-to-head at the beginning of the Championship, and I think they’ll win by two or more in this one. Confidence Meter: 4

1:30- D.A. Points or tie: Points comes in with top 20s in three of his last four appearances at this event and has been putting together a nice season including a win in Houston. He’ll face Louis Oosthuizen in this 18-hole prop who has three top 20’s in his last four tournaments. Points history here makes him the play in my mind since he’s getting the tie. Confidence Meter: 5

6:03- No Run scored in 1st inning: This is a classic “jump-start” prop to get your streak in the green before the long-locking evening matchups. It’s a simple yes/no prop for the question “Will a run score in the first inning as #19 Clemson takes on #8 Florida State in college baseball?” Odds are always in favor of no, but it’s a fluke-filled prop to avoid unless you’re on a short streak or in the red. Confidence Meter: 4

7:05- Pittsburgh Pirates: Francisco Liriano looked great his first time out for the Pirates after opening the season on the DL. Tonight he pitches at home against the Brewers as the teams wrap up their four-game series. The Pirates have taken the last two games and Milwaukee has just one win in their last six games and two in their last thirteen. So far this season, the Brew-crew has been extremely streaky whether good or bad. Right now it’s not good and I don’t trust their starter Hiram Burgos who gave up 12 runs in three innings in his last start. Confidence Meter: 6

7:10- Tampa Bay Rays: Speaking of giving up runs… cue Felix Doubront… as a Red Sox fan I wince just typing that. Hopefully, he can bounce back and my Sox get the win in this rubber game in Tamps, but the analytical side says the Rays are definitely the right pick here. Confidence Meter: 4

February 12, 2013; Boston, MA USA; New York Rangers right wing Darroll Powe (8) and Boston Bruins right wing Nathan Horton (18) fight for position on a face-off during the second period at TD Garden. Mandatory Credit: Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

7:30- Boston Bruins: The other Boston team in action tonight is the Bruins as they open what should be a great series against the New York Rangers. Home ice will be huge in this series and since this game is in Boston I’ll take the Bruins. Confidence Meter: 5

8:05- Detroit Tigers: Justin Verlander is on the mound for the Tigers as they take on Yu Darvish and the Rangers in what sets up to be a classic pitcher’s duel. These things never seem to work out so well, but I’ll take Verlander and Detroit since Verlander struggled his last time out and he rarely does that for two consecutive starts. He’s 3-0 with a 1.29 ERA on the road in Texas, and I think the Tigers lineup will get him enough run support as they look for their third win in four games. Confidence Meter: 3

8:10- Indiana Pacers: The Knicks have major issues and could easily be bounced from the playoffs if the Pacers come to play. Indiana has been the better team on the floor for all but one long field-goalless stretch at MSG in game two. If they can avoid such a draught tonight, I think they’ll close this one out. In many ways, I think it does come down to J.R. Smith and I’d rather not have to count on someone so inconsistent. Confidence Meter: 5

8:11- 9 or more: This prop is how many FG made will Carmelo and Paul George make in the first half. In the four games this series the under would have won twice and the over in games two and four. I expect both to come out agressive tonight, though, so I do think this goes over, but it’s not the lock some people think it is. Confidence Meter: 4

9:30- Knicks first to 10 points: My guess is that Melo comes out firing and the Kicks surge out early, but this is a coin-flip prop. Confidence Meter: 3

10:00- Los Angeles Kings: The Key to this one is home ice. LA was 19-4-1 this season and has won al four of their home games in the playoffs. They also beat the Sharks in their two games at STAPLES Center against them during the regular season. Since they’re at home, the Kings are the pick. When the series shifts to HP Pavilion and San Jose is the home team, things will get very interesting. Confidence Meter: 6

10:35- Golden State Warriors: The Warriors need to win to stay alive in the NBA Playoffs, and at home at the Oracle I think they’ll get it done. They are one-point favorites as they host San Antonio and will need  big night from Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson to extend the series. Both struggled in game five, but I expect them to bounce back since they’ll be at home. Confidence Meter: 4

10:36- Spurs: The Spurs’ 1st half three-pointers made are matched against Curry and Thompson’s in this final prop of the day. Since you get the whole team, I think Spurs is the safer pick but Curry and/or Thompson could go off an get them the green. In three of five games this series, the Spurs would have won this prop, and I think they’ll get the win on this prop tonight even though they may not win the game. Confidence Meter: 5
