Streak for the Cash Picks, May 28 Analysis and Previews

Whether you make the pick in Streak for the Cash tonight or not, make sure to catch game 7 as the Los Angeles Kings and defenseman Jake Muzzin (6) take on the San Jose Sharks and center James Sheppard (15) and center Tommy Wingels (57). Mandatory Credit: Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

As the month winds down, Streak for the Cash slows down a little as we hit the mid-week lull. There are still options to build your streak, though, with picks from Romanian and Irish Soccer joining a full MLB slate and the NBA Playoffs tonight. Also tonight, the NHL playoffs feature a game seven as the Sharks and Kings face off for the right to play in the Western Conference Finals. Game seven is the best thing in sports so whether you make the pick or not, make sure to catch what should be an intense Sharks-Kings game tonight. Here’s the picks I’m watching today:

5/28 Streak Picks

11:00- FC Brasov win, draw, or lose by 1: Steaua Bucaresti leads the Romanian Liga 1 and are 14-1-1 at home this season. Their last two home wins were by multiple goals, but the are 0-1-1 in their last two matches including a game just two days ago. On the other side of this prop, FC Brasov sits in seventh with a 14-9-10 record and have gone 5-1-1 over their last seven. With Bucaresti possibly fatigued, I think Brasov keeps this close. 12:37- Atlanta Braves: The Braves look to bounce back from taking a beatdown yesterday in Toronto as they send Paul Maholm to the mound against Brandon Morrow. Both starters worked seven innings and won their last start, but Maholm gave up no runs while Morrow allowed six. The Braves were red hot before dropping their last two, but I think they’ll get back on track with a win in Toronto this afternoon. Confidence Meter: 5

2:45- Yes Both teams win: This prop is for Sligo and St. Patricks to both win their home games. Sligo is -200 and St. Patricks is currently -350. Both should be able to take care of business, but with two teams in the parley there’s always a chance one gets held to a draw. Confidence Meter: 6

7:05- New York Mets: The Mets have won their last two after coming back in consecutive games against Atlanta and the Yankees. Today, they send ace Matt Harvey to the hill, and should be able to make it three in a row at home before the Subway series shifts to the Bronx. Confidence Meter: 5

8:10- Minnesota Twins: The Twins have won two of three as they wrap up their road trip in Milwaukee taking on the Brewers. Milwaukee has lost 19 of 24 and may be without Ryan Braun who continues to deal with a right thumb injury as they face Scott Diamond. Diamond has been good on the road for some reason while struggling at home. He’ll be opposed by Alfredo Figaro making his first start of the season. The Twins took the win last night 6-3, and I think they’ll make it two out of two in Milwaukee before heading hoem. Confidence Meter: 4

May 26, 2013; Indianapolis, IN, USA; Miami Heat center Chris Bosh (1) and Indiana Pacers small forward Paul George (24) battle for position in game three of the Eastern Conference finals of the 2013 NBA Playoffs at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. 8:35- Miami Heat: As we saw in game three, the Heat’s best game is too good for the Pacers. If Indiana can force them to play like they did in games one and two, they have a shot to win this game, but the Heat were on another level  in game three. I think LeBron takes them there again tonight. Confidence Meter: 6

9:10- Los Angeles Kings: The home team is undefeated in this series, and the games at STAPLES have been pretty one-sided. Only game two was a one-goal game, and game five was a 3-0 Kings win. LA can draw on their championship run last year as they look to protect their home ice and move on to the Western Conference Finals. Confidence Meter: 7

10:05- Los Angeles Dodgers: The Angels were on a roll having won eight in a row before blowing a big league yesterday as the Dodgers earned a comeback win. Although the Angels have been playing well, I can’t take the Angels with Joe Blanton on the mound when the Dodgers have Hyun-Jin Ryu. Ryu has been pitching well, while Blanton had been a disaster until his last start. I don’t think he’ll duplicate that outing as the Dodgers take the first two games in the Freeway Series before things shift to Anaheim. Confidence Meter: 4

10:10- San Diego Padres: The Padres finish their trip to Safeco as they take on Brandon Maurer and the Mariners. Maurer has been up-and-down all season for Seattle but has gone 0-3 with a 8.36 ERA in his last three starts. The Padres counter with their own inconsistent starter Edinson Volquez, but Volquez has a nice 3-0 record against Seattle with a 2.67 ERA. Both these teams have struggled, but I’ll take the Padres to struggle less tonight. Confidence Meter: 3
