Fantasy Baseball: Waiver Wire Pitching Pickups, 6/02/13

Sunday brings the close of another fantasy baseball week which means its time to grab your last-minute starting pitchers from the waiver wire. Close your week out strong with these three pickups scheduled to start on Sunday and available in more than half of ESPN leagues.

Possible Pickups

Jarrod Parker-Oakland Athletics: (29.1%) Parker has bounced back a rough start to the season and has allowed three runs or fewer while pitching into the seventh in his last four outings. Parker’s year-long numbers are still ugly, but he has been much better as of late. He faces the White Sox struggling offense Sunday making him the top option if he’s on your league’s waiver wire.

Jeanmar Gomez-Pittsburgh Pirates: (1.0%) Gomez has been good since being moved into the rotation and on the year has an ERA of just 2.30 with a 1.07 WHIP. Gomez dominated Detroit for seven innings his last time out allowing just three hits. His striekout numbers are nothing exceptional, but he can help your WHIP and ERA as he squares off with Mat Latos and the Reds at PNC Park.

Tyler Lyons-St. Louis Cardinals: (20.9%) Lyons has won both his first two stars with almost identical lines. He went seven innings against both the Royals and Padres on the road allowing just one earned run in each start. He has struck out nine total in his 14 innings while walking just two. He faces the Giants and spot starter Chad Gaudin in the finale of the Cards-Giants NLCS rematch. He should be able to improve to 3-0 if he can put up another good start like he has been.
