Streak for the Cash Picks-June 3 Analysis and Previews

After a busy weekend, Streak for the Cash reaches the first Monday of June with a solid board full of picks for today. Things get started with tennis from Roland Garros. After that there are some international soccer options in the afternoon leading up to a MLB and NHL filled evening. The marquee game of the day, though, starts at 8:35 as the Pacers and Heat meet in their NBA Eastern Conference Final Game 7. Here’s my picks for the day:

6/3 Streak Picks

9:00- Rafael Nadal wins 3-0: Nadal faces Kei Nishikori for the fifth time in his career and the first time on clay. He’s won all four previous meetings taking the last three in straight sets. He’s won his last six sets and looks to be rolling toward the finals. I think he’ll be focused and ready to dispatch Nishikori tomorrow. Confdience Meter:(out of 10)

12:00- Any Other Result: This is a prop for how many games Sloane Stephens will win in the first set against Maria Sharapova. It’s three or four vs AOR. The two met last month in Rome on clay and Sharapova won 6-2, 6-1. I think she’ll most likely do the same today but a 6-3 outcome is definitely possible making this a prop to stay away from. Confidence Meter: 2

1:00- Sweden wins by 2+: At home, Sweden should cruise if they start their best lineup. The only thing is it’s an exhibition so don’t count on it too much. Confidence Meter: 3

7:07- Cleveland Indians: The Yankees had a lengthy rain delay last night and may have more weather concerns in this one. If they do play the game, I’ll take the Tribe and Justin Masterson who threw a four-hit shutout against the Yankees last month and has allowed one run or fewer in three of his last four starts. New York gives the ball to Andy Pettitte fresh off the DL. Confidence Meter: 4 1/2

7:10- Atlanta Braves: Atlanta hosts Pittsburgh in another game that could have weather issues. Pittsburgh had been shut out for consecutive games before rallying for a walk-off win yesterday while the Braves took two of their last three from the Nats. Pirates starter A.J. Burnett has had issues with run support all year and in his last ten starts against the Braves is 1-6 with a 3.62 ERA. His opposition, Kris Medlen has similar issues coming in 1-6 with a 3.48 ERA. Since Atlanta is at home and in better form, they’re my pick but again watch the weather since you could end up locked in longer than you want to be. Confidence Meter: 5

7:10- Colorado Rockies: Cincinnati is expected to be clear of the weather situation as the Reds open their series against the Rockies. They’ll send starter Bronson Arroyo to the hill who struggled in Cleveland in his last start. One player they probably will not have is Brandon Phillips who got plunked in their last series against the Pirates. The Rockies wil try and take advantage of Phillips absence as they send Tyler Chatwood to the mound looking to improve to 4-0. He comes in with a 2.12 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP. The Rockies offense is heating up after beating the Dodgers in the last two games, so I’ll take them on the road due to their current form and starting pitcher advantage.  Confidence Meter: 4

8:10- Pittsburgh Penguins: The Penguins can’t afford to lose this home game after the Bruins tough defense got Boston the 3-0 win in game one. This is going to be a long series, and I think Pittsburgh evens it up before things shift to Boston. Confidence Meter: 6

8:15- St. Louis Cardinals: The Cardinals and Lance Lynn (7-1, 2.91 ERA) face Trevor Cahill (3-5, 2.88 ERA) and the visiting D-Backs. St. Louis has been great lately winning two of three and six of eight. They are always a solid home team while Arizona has struggled to get Cahill the run support he needs. St. Louis lost two of three in Arizona to start the season but has improved great since then. Confidence Meter: 5

8:35- Miami Heat: It’s definitely not a lock that the Heat win this although they do come in as seven-point favorites. The Pacers have been incredible in this series and have played their way to a shot to win this. I think it will be a close game that goes back and forth with LeBron taking over late and winning it for Miami. I would take the Pacers and the points, but straight-up I’ll take Miami. Confidence Meter: 6

8:36- 26 points or fewer: Dwyane Wade and Lebron’s points in the first half are the over/under here. Wade has disappeared in this series and LeBron will need to do most of the heavy-lifting here. I think he takes over late, but that this one goes under. Confidence Meter: 4

10:00- AOR: This prop is whether that the Heat will win the 3rd and 4th quarter. I think this is close so I’ll take AOR that the Pacers will win one of these 2 quarters. This pick is subject to change and if it does I’ll announce it on twitter. Confidence Meter: 3

10:10- San Diego Padres: As I wrote about briefly  here, Eric Stults has been pitching well lately. Dodgers starter Stephen Fife not so much as he takes the mound for LA after being recalled from the minors yesterday. The Dodgers dropped their last two in Colorado while the Padres have won four of five coming into Sunday night’s game. San Diego is playing better and has the clear starting pitcher advantage making them a solid pick. Confidence Meter: 6

10:10- Seattle MarinersThis matchup depends largely on Joe Saunders. If the Mariners get the good-at-home version of their starter they should be able to win against John Danks and the struggling White Sox. However, if Saunders is the implosion-prone version of himself it could get ugly early. I think since he’s at home, he’ll pitch well, but his performances have been so up-and-down it’s hard to be confident. Confidence Meter: 3
