Friday night, baseball’s weekend series get rolling with 14 games Friday night after the Astros play at Wrigley in the only afternoon game on the slate. With all 30 teams scheduled, there are plenty of options if you need a starting pitching boost for your fantasy baseball team. Here’s four options I like depending on your situation that are available in at least 50% of ESPN leagues:
Dallas Keuchel-Houston Astros: (2.1%) Keuchel has turned in four quality starts in a row allowing a total of six runs in 25 1/3. He’s picked up 17 strikeouts in that time while walking just four. On Friday afternoon, he gets the start at Wrigley against the Cubs. He has one appearance against them in the past allowing one run in four innings last season.
Samuel Deduno-Minnsota Twins: (0.8%) The Twins right-hander has allowed just five runs in his last four starts after getting shelled his first start of the season. Last time out he held the Tigers to just two runs in seven innings moving to 3-1 with a 3.26 ERA on the year. Deduno is matched up against Scott Kazmir and the Indians in Cleveland Friday night.
Ricky Nolasco-Miami Marlins: (7.5%) Nolasco has allowed more than three earned runs just once in his last six starts. He held the potent Cardinals lineup to just three hits in seven innings allowing just one run in his last start. He’s improved to 4-7 even with the anemic Marlins offense and has a solid 1.15 WHIP on the season. He faces the Giants at AT&T Park tonight as he faced Tim Lincecum. It’s risky since he has gotten hammered in the past, but he’s been solid lately and can help your WHIP/ERA numbers headed into the weekend.
