Streak for the Cash Picks, June 22 Analysis and Previews

Streak for the Cash hits the weekend with a full board today thanks to Major League Baseball, the PGA Tour, the NHL Stanley Cup Finals and some international soccer. There’s over 20 options to choose from and plenty of props to jumpstart any streak that stalls. It should be a solid Saturday of picks even though there aren’t any that I’m super-confident in.

6/22 Streak Picks

7:54- Rickie Fowler: Fowler was -2 yesterday after a +2 in round one. He was -3 on the front nine yesterday. Today he faces Tim Clark over those nine holes in this prop. Clark played them -2 yesterday and was -3 for the round after +3 on Thursday. This is an even match, but Fowler had been playing the better of the two coming into the tournament so I’ll go with him to get the green and give the tie. Confidence Meter: (out of 10)

11:00-Mexico U20 wins by 2+: Mexico and Greece meet in the U-20 World Cup in Turkey. Mexico’s U20 is solid and has been playing well leading up to the tournament. Greece went 0-1-1 drawing Serbia and losing to France in their warmup games. This is the first game in the tournament for both teams so it’s tricky to pick with no solid history. Confidence Meter: 2

1:05- New York Yankees: CC goes for New York against Alex Colome and the Rays. Colome was great against Miami, but the Yankees will be a much tougher test. Sabathia is 5-1 with a 2.73 ERA in his last seven starts in the Bronx, and I think he’ll get is 199th win of his career in this one. Confidence Meter: 5

1:07- Baltimore Orioles: The O’s and Blue Jays always play great, hard-fought, high-drama games. Last night’s was no exception as the hometown Jays won in the ninth. Tonight they’ll send Chien-Ming Wang to the mound looking to continue his success from his last start as he faces Miguel Gonzlaez who comes in 5-2 with a 3.75 ERA. Gonzalez has been pitching well lately and I’ll take him and the Orioles to take the middle of this three-game set. Confidence Meter: 4

2:10- Chicago White Sox: Chicago got nine uns last night in their win over the Royals. KC remains stuck in its offensive slide and now look to Wade Davis to turn things around. He gets the start opposite the Sox Jose Quintana. Both starters have had up-and-down years, so I’ll take the team with a bit of momentum and go with the White Sox. Confidence Meter: 3

3:00- Brazil win: Brazil has dominated the Confederations Cup as they wrap up group play with a match against Italy. both squads have already advanced, so I think Italy will let Brazil get this home win although it could easily end in a 0-0 draw as well. Confidence Meter: 5

3:00- Mexico win or draw: Mexico and Japan are the other half of the group with Brazil and Italy meaning they’ve already been bounced. Mexico has struggled offensively, but getting the draw I’ll take them against a Japan team that blew a tough game against Italy that they lost 4-3 after leading 2-0. Mexico lost to both Brazil and Japan, but needs to salvage something with a solid closeout in this tournament finale. confidence Meter: 4

4:05- Philadelphia Phillies: The Phillies crushed the Mets starter Dillon Gee earlier this season and he also had a tough last game out giving up a game-tying homer in the ninth after pitching beautifully all game. Gee will be opposed by Phillies starter Jonathan Pettipone who was pounded his last time out, but has been good against the Mets in the past. Confidence Meter: 3

7:15- Arizona Diamondbacks: The Snakes trashed Johnny Cueto and the Reds last night and now turn to Patrick Corbin who goes for his 10th win tonight. The Reds counter with Mike Leake. Both pitchers have been great, but Arizona’s offense has been clicking much better than Cincy’s and they are at home too making htem a solid pick. Confidence Meter: 5

8:05- Chicago Fire win or draw: The Fire have struggled to a 4-3-7 start to the MLS season, but they have earned at least a draw in their last four although three of those have been at home. they’ll head on the road for tonight’s match against Columbus who is just ahead of them in the table at 5-5-5. The Crew won their most recent game against Montreal but had been winless in their previous three. Confidence Meter: 5

8:10- Boston Bruins: These two teams are incredibly evenly matched as evidence by the overtimes needed to determine every game but one. I’ll take the Bruins to bounce back and win this one on the road, but Chicago may have swung momentum with their game four. It should be a great game to watch and enjoy, but its a tough one to pick. Confidence Meter: 2

10:05- Los Angeles Angels: The Angels and Pirates meet in game two of this interleague showdown. LA has won six of their last nine and gives the ball to Jerome Williams who has been solid in the rotation for the Angels. The Pirates also give the ball to a solid starter in Francisco Liriano who has been outstanding. However, he’s struggled against the Angels in the past with a 6.69 ERA in eight starts. The Angels  should be able to get  the win in this one. Confidence Meter: 3

10:10- Seattle Mariners: Aaron Harang has had an inconsistent season but overall has been good at home. He’ll face another inconsistent starter in Dan Straily. Straily has been extremely hittable recently and the Mariners were able to rough him up earlier this season. Confidence Meter: 4
