Streak for the Cash Picks, July 19 Analysis and Previews

Streak for the Cash welcomes back baseball with a full board today including David Price taking the mound in Toronto for the Rays. Mandatory Credit: Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Streak for the Cash is back with a fully stacked board after a four-day lull for the Major League Baseball All-Star break. There are options today from the ongoing Open Championship at Muirfield and the Tour de France Stage 19. Tonight Major League Baseball is back with a full complement of 11 straight-up and prop picks. For variety tonight, there is a pick from north of the border in the CFL and sought of the border in the Mexican Primera Division. Here are the picks I’m making for today with my quick takes on each one and my confidence level out of ten.

7/19 Streak Picks

July 18, 2013; Gullane, United Kingdom; Tiger Woods hits tee shot at the 6th hole during the first round of the 2013 The Open Championship at Muirfield Golf Club. Mandatory Credit: Paul Cunningham-USA TODAY Sports

4:44- 69 or Fewer: Tiger shot a 69 in round one finishing with a solid -3 back nine after a +1 front nine. While I still doubt Tiger gets the win, I think he’ll have another solid round today before fading over the weekend like he has in recent Majors. Confidence Meter: 5

5:00- Spain or France: It’s Spain and France against the world in this prop and four of the top five favorites are from Spain. I’d stay away, but if you need a pick take four of the five faves. Confidence Meter: 3

11:25- Phil Mickelson: A similar prop was on the board yesterday and Phil won by 10 strokes. However, make sure to take note that this is NOT for the full round like yesterday’s. This is for three holes making the tie a huge factor. I still think Phil is the pick, but not by as much as if it covered more holes. Confidence Meter: 4

12:50- 2 Players Par: On the 16th, this prop is for Bubba, Colsaerts, and D. Johnson. All three can hit the ball a mile, but this is for a par-3 so that doesn’t factor is as much. Yesterday, Watson and DJ bogeyed while 97 of 154 golfers were able to get par. As with all these one-hole props, it could go either way, but I think two get par. Confidence Meter: 3

1:48- 13 Strokes or more: This one-hole prop is for the combined score of Snedeker, Rose, and Els on the 18th. Yesterday the three totaled 13 strokes with a pair of pars and a bogey for Els. The 18th is a tough hole so getting a 12 would be a really good score. It’s a one-hole prop, so stay away with anything long. Confidence Meter: 4

7:07- Tampa Bay Rays: David Price looks to be back in Cy Young form and he’s dominated in Toronto. He’s 6-0 in his career at Rogers Centre with a 3.38 ERA. Since coming off the DL he’s 2-1 with a 1.08 ERA. The Rays are on the road, but Price still makes them a solid picks. Confidence Meter: 6

7:10- New York Mets: Jeremy Hefner has been excellent lately after starting the season pretty horribly. Hefner is 3-0 with a 1.89 ERA in his last six starts and has been even better recently holding opponents to a .125 average in three starts this month. The caution here is that Hefner has been hammered by the Phillies in the past while his opponent Kyle Kendrick has a great history at Citi Field. I’ll take current form, though, over history and go with the Mets. Confidence Meter: 4

7:10- Boston Red Sox: The Red Sox and Yankees play at Fenway tonight as Andy Pettitte looks to stop his recent slide and Felix Doubront looks to keep his momentum going against a club he has dominated in his career. This will be a long one since it’s Sox-Yanks and will probalby be your last pick of the day if you take it. The Red Sox being at home against a struggling Pettitte who they know so well makes them a solid pick for tonight. Confidence Meter: 5

8:10- Cleveland Indians: The Tribe is on the road in Minnesota in this 8:05 start. They’ll send Scott Kazmir to the mound against Mike Pelfrey. Both starters have had up-and-down years but the Indians are having a better season and have taken four of six from their AL Central division rivals. Confidence Meter: 3

8:10- Miami Marlins: The Marlins are just 14-31 on the road, but Jacob Turner on the mound tonight gives them a good shot to get the win. Turner has given up two earned runs or fewer in six of his eight starts and already pitched fairly well against the Brew-Crew once this season. He’ll be opposed by Kyle Lohse who has had an up-and-down season as indicated by his 5-7 record witha 3.67 ERA. These are the two worst teams in the NL, so I’d stay away if possible, but pick the Marlins if you must pick this game. Confidence Meter: 4

10:05- Oakland Athletics: A.J. Griffin has looked more like an ace than Jered Weaver and the A’s have looked like the best team in the AL West. Even in LA, the A’s are the smart pick coming in leading the season series 5-1. Confidence Meter: 5

10:15- Arizona Diamondbacks: The NL West is going to be quite the battle coming down the stretch with all four teams bunched closely together. Chad Gaudin gets the start for the Giants at home tonight, but I’ll take the D-Backs to come in and steal one at AT&T Park even though I think the Giants get the other two games this weekend. Confidence Meter: 3
