Ray Rice owners, get ready for a stressful Sunday morning.
After leaving last week’s game with a non-contact hip injury that initially looked grim, Rice has reportedly walking without a limp most of the week. The Ravens called the injury a left hip flexor strain, and Rice never had an MRI before being labeled day-to-day by coach John Harbaugh.
After not practicing all week, Rice is officially doubtful headed into Sunday’s game against the visiting Houston Texans. He’s truly a gametime decision, and until Sunday morning Rice owners can hold out hope that he’ll be able to play.
If Rice does play, it’s hard to know if he’ll be at full speed, but unless you have a great option you have to start him. Don’t leave your fantasy studs on the bench unless you have another one to plug in instead.
If Rice is declared inactive, Bernard Pierce makes a decent play, but the Texans run defense has looked fairly solid making Pierce a solid RB2 with limited upside. Pierce has shown some flashes in the playoffs and regular season, and if he’s unowned in your league for some reason he’s a great pickup.
In all of fantasy football, this is our first excruciating gametime decision of the season, so make sure to check Sunday before kickoff to see if Rice is going to come back or take this week off.
