In both ESPN and Yahoo fantasy basketball leagues, Stephen Curry has been given point guard and shooting guard eligibility. I’m not sure who he bribed at these separate entities, but he just elevated his draft stock significantly. As referenced in A Great Draft Begins NOW!, the shooting guard position is in very short supply this year. James Harden, Stephen Curry, and Paul George are the only elite members of the club. Maybe these two fantasy behemoths forgot to look at Golden State’s roster which includes Klay Thompson, Kent Bazemore, Harrison Barnes, Andre Iguodala, and no backup point guard. I’m sorry. I had to vent a bit because I hate when the league carelessly gives some positions away while never acknowledging others.
What does this newly acquired position mean?
Although I have been quite public with the Iguodala concern, injury history, and an improved Warriors’ lineup, Curry can now be taken over Chris Paul at the #4 slot. I suspect that he will be gone by pick #5 in almost every draft. I wouldn’t be critical if he was taken over Harden at #3 because Steph has a great schedule, 2 positions, great confidence, and a tremendous amount of momentum from last year.
My draft is this Friday at 9:15PM. To exhibit the competitiveness and tenacity of our league, my good friend’s wife is having a baby on Thursday evening. My friend will be in attendance at the draft on Friday night. I admire the way he is ruling the roost. I can’t see my wife going for that one coming off of that hormonal whirlwind. Back to the topic at hand, I have adjusted my list to reflect the change.
- Kevin Durant
- LeBron James
- James Harden
- Stephen Curry
- Chris Paul
- Kevin Love
- Paul George
