Fantasy Basketball: Jrue Holiday out indefinitely

Injuries play a big part of a fantasy season and owners of New Orleans Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday just suffered a big kick to the groin.

The Pelicans announced on Friday that Holiday is out indefinitely with a stress fracture in his right tibia.

This pretty much came out of nowhere as Holiday has played in all 34 games this season, looking healthy while seeing 33.6 minutes per night. He boasted averages of 14.3 points, 7.9 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game, numbers that will be tough to replace.

Holiday’s absence means a guy like Brian Roberts is a must add right now.

In five starts last year, Roberts averaged 12.6 points, 10.0 assists, 3.2 rebounds, 1.4 3-pointers and 0.8 steals, so if you can go and get him now, he should be able to soften the blow a little bit.

I would also expect Tyreke Evans to get some ball handling duties, so I would expect a slight increase in his numbers as well.

Currently there is no timetable on Holiday’s return, but I would expect him to be out at least several weeks.

If you are looking to boost your backcourt, I took a look at four guys yesterday who could be available in some leagues, including Kendall Marshall, Darren Collison, Iman Shumpert and Gerald Green.
