Anaheim Ducks’ forward Ryan Getzlaf sent a scare through many fantasy hockey owners when he missed Sunday’s game against the Detroit Red Wings with what was described as a lower-body injury.
Getzlaf owners ca breathe a sigh of relief though as it will only be a one-game absence for the Ducks’ star.
According to the Orange County Register, Getzlaf will be back on the ice Wednesday night when the Ducks take on the Vancouver Canucks.
Getzlaf blocked a shot with his foot during Saturday’s contest and missed Sunday’s game as a result. His return is great news as he has 23 goals and 53 points in 44 games this season ranking fourth in the NHL with 53 points.
In other fantasy hockey injury news, Winnipeg Jets’ forward Evander Kane is getting close to making his return to the lineup soon, but could still miss a couple more games due to a hand injury. Kane didn’t skate Tuesday, but he did take part in an off-ice workout. Kane hurt his hand in a fight with Tampa Bay’s Eric Brewer on Jan. 7. Prior to that he had racked up 25 points (14 goals) in 38 games.
Finally the prognosis may not be good for Penguins’ forward James Neal in terms of his chances of playing Wednesday night against the Washington Capitals.
As Matt Gajtka of City of Champions Sports reported earlier today, Neal was deemed “day-to-day” by Penguins coach Dan Bylsma on Tuesday after the high-scoring winger missed his second straight day of practice.
