The Philadelphia 76ers may be without star rookie point guard Michael Carter-Williams on Monday night vs. the Brooklyn Nets.  On a night where the NBA will feature 11 games on their schedule, fantasy basketball owners will need to have a backup in place just in case Carter-Williams can’t suit up.

Carter-Williams, or MCW, missed Saturday’s game vs. the Pistons with a shoulder injury and if he were to miss tonight’s game, it would be the 13th game this season the rookie has missed.  Fantasy owners who took a gamble on the former Syracuse star in the late rounds of their drafts have been rewarded handsomely.  With averages of 17.2 points, 6.6 assists, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.3 steals per game, MCW is the runaway favorite for the NBA Rookie of the Year Award.  He’s not just excelling on the rookie front, though.  His 2.3 steals rank him 3rd overall in the league and his 5.5 boards are the most among point guards with at least 35 games played.

If MCW sits, the Sixers will start Tony Wroten at the point again, and he’s a great player to insert into your fantasy lineups.  Wroten has excelled when starting in MCW’s place this season, averaging 18.3 points, 5.3 assists, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.3 steals in those 12 games, which includes an 18-point, five-assist game on Saturday.  His shooting percentages (40.3 FG, 22.9 3PT, 59.9 FT) can be a tough pill to swallow, but with the way he can fill up a box score, Wroten is a must-add for tonight’s matchup vs. the Nets.  Wroten is available in 94 percent of ESPN.com fantasy basketball leagues.
