There are 11 games on the NBA schedule Friday night and fantasy basketball owners should be keeping an eye on players’ injury statuses leading up till tip-off.
The good news for fantasy owners is that the Atlanta Hawks’ Paul Millsap will finally return tonight, but there are some other injuries worth monitoring.
» After missing five games, Paul Millsap will return the court tonight for the Hawks. The Hawks’ starting power forward last played on Feb. 21 vs. the Pistons, but has missed each game since with a knee contusion. Owners will be ecstatic to get the All-Star back in their lineups. Millsap is averaging 17.6 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.8 steals, 1.1 blocks, and 1.0 3-pointers per game.
There were other players that stepped up in Millsap’s absence, but guys like Mike Scott and Elton Brand are droppable in leagues of 12 teams or less. Lou Williams played just five minutes last game, but he’s worth hanging on to because his lack of court time may have been a product of their blowout loss to Portland.
» Owners of Ersan Ilyasova should be prepared to be without the Milwaukee Bucks’ small forward tonight vs. the New Orleans Pelicans.
llyasova got into a scuffle with the Kings’ Reggie Evans on Wednesday and word around the league is that he could receive a suspension. The Bucks play a back-to-back with another game tomorrow vs. the Wizards.
John Henson has really been struggling lately, but he would stand to gain the most if Ilyasova sits. Henson is averaging just 6.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 0.4 blocks in 22.8 minutes over his last five games, but his season averages of 11.1 points, 7.7 boards, and 2.0 blocks are good enough to consider rostering him. Henson is owned in just 50.6 percent of ESPN.com leagues.
Other Injury Notes:
Patrick Beverley (6.8 percent owned) will indeed play tonight. The Houston Rockets’ starting point guard broke his nose in Wednesday’s win over the Orlando Magic. He’ll go up against the NBA’s best defense in the Indiana Pacers, but is someone that should be owned in most leagues going forward. … Thomas Robinson (knee) will be active for the Blazers tonight vs. the Dallas Mavericks. He has a few good games last week, but with LaMarcus Aldridge back, he should return to his customary 12 minutes per game … Memphis Grizzlies’ PF Zach Randolph will suit up tonight after missing Wednesday’s game with an illness.
