We’re now heading into Week 20 of the NBA season, and fantasy basketball owners will need to be keen when selecting players off their league’s waiver wire.
The Milwaukee Bucks have a five-game slate in the upcoming week, and Jeff Adrien is a rebounding specialist who could give your fantasy team a boost.
» Jeff Adrien, PF, Milwaukee Bucks (1.4 percent owned on ESPN.com):
Like Reggie Evans, the player I profiled yesterday, Jeff Adrien is making his presence felt in his new home.
After going pro in 2009, the former UConn Huskies’ star has made stops in Spain, Italy, Russia and the D-League, but may have finally found a home in Wisconsin.
Adrien was an afterthought while with the Bobcats this season, averaging just 2.3 points and 3.5 rebounds in 10.2 minutes. He’s really making a name for himself with the Bucks, though.
In eight games since coming over from the ‘Cats, Adrien is averaging close to a double-double, scoring 9.0 points and grabbing 8.9 boards. His offense has really picked up over his last three games as well, averaging 14.3 points in losses to the Kings, Pelicans and Wizards.
Starting Monday, the Bucks will begin a five-game week, and have tasty matchups vs. the Magic, Hawks and T’Wolves, who are 21st, 22nd and 23rd in fantasy basketball vs. opposing power forwards.
Jeff Adrien has been completely outplaying early-season darling John Henson, and has managed to find himself in the good graces of his ever-fickle coach, Larry Drew. If you’re an owner in a deeper league and need some rebounding help, adding the Bucks’ big man could give you the boost you need in this crucial head-to-head matchup right before the fantasy playoffs.
