The default settings in most leagues have the fantasy basketball playoffs beginning in Week 21, so that means that this upcoming week will be crucial for thousands of owners.
If you’re an owner on the cusp of the fantasy playoffs, who you add this week could make or break your season.
» Alec Burks, SG/PG, Utah Jazz (70.3 percent owned on ESPN.com):
Somehow Alec Burks has managed to fly under the radar nearly all season long, but that needs to change in competitive fantasy leagues.
Burks, in his third NBA season, is averaging a healthy 13.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists. He’s sort of an atypical shooting guard, in that he shoots 44.8 percent from the field and makes just 0.6 3-pointers per game, but owners can forgive him when he’s putting up numbers like he has over his last 13 contests.
In those games, the former Colorado Buffaloes star is averaging 17.4 points on 48.3 percent shooting from the field. His rebounding (3.3) and assists (2.5) numbers are right around his season norms, but owners have got to be happy about his improved scoring. In fact, Burks is leading the Jazz in scoring over that period, topping Gordon Hayward‘s 15.3 points.
The Jazz also have some tasty matchups this week vs. the Atlanta Hawks and Dallas Mavericks, who are 27th and 21st in points allowed since the the All-Star Break.
Another Jazz player to consider is Enes Kanter (59.8 percent owned), who is averaging 14.7 points and 7.5 rebounds over his last 11 games.
