Jamal Crawford‘s calf injury isn’t going away, and the Los Angeles Clippers’ shooting guard will sit out Monday’s game vs. the Phoenix Suns. Fantasy basketball owners will have a couple of great in-house options to choose from on the waiver wires.
Crawford originally sustained the injury on Feb. 26 vs. the Houston Rockets, leaving the contest after playing just 16 minutes.
The team smartly held him out of the next three games, but allowed him to suit up vs. the Hawks on Saturday. That error in judgement could cause Crawford to miss some extended time, though.
There was no news of an aggravation following Saturday’s game (in which he played 10 minutes), but Clippers’ beat writer Brad Turner is indeed reporting that Crawford will be on the sidelines for the team’s crucial matchup vs. a red-hot Suns team that expected to get star point guard Eric Bledsoe back from injury tonight:
The Clippers come into Monday as the fourth seed out West, but are just 1/2 game behind the No. 3 Houston Rockets.
Barnes (60.2 percent owned on ESPN.com) has been on fire lately, averaging 17.3 points, 5.9 boards, 1.3 steals, and 3.3 treys over his last eight games. He has been starting with Jared Dudley (back) hurt, and looks as though it’ll be his job for the remainder of the season.
Collison is averaging 10.6 points and 3.6 assists on the year, but most of his damage has been done when filling in for the previously injured Chris Paul and now, Crawford.
Over his last five games, including the one when Crawford initially sustained his injury, Collison (37.1 percent owned) has averaged 17.6 points, 4.0 assists, 1.8 steals, and 1.3 3-pointers.
